TTRITH - I was just thinking the same thing about a testimonial.

I can only echo the above sentiments, shame that this happened just as he was establishing himself as first choice England SH.

By the way anyone note the comment by a certain BJ (aka Captain Oates) in the Mercury article? Seems the forum is not good enough for him and he's taken to posting to himself.

Very sad news, but it seemed inevitable.

A player who epitomised a true Tiger. A loss to the sport.

Even with all the players we've had leave this year, this one makes me the most sad. I wish him all the best for the future.

Harry never really recovered from that injury in 2007 and it was always likely he would call it a day. He was a Leicester Tiger through and through and never gave less than 100% in every game. I wish him well for the future and thanks for the memories Harry.

Saddest news I've heard for a while.

Thanks for the memories Harry. Never got the chance to be as good as he could have been (in my opinion)

Retired? It's only been in the last season or two that he has looked old enough to be out on the pitch without his mother!

Sad loss of a deeply committed player, full of the Tiger's spirit, international class and local born and bred. When we we see his like again?

(O.K. Ben Youngs is very committed, and local born and bred, and has played for England, but I'm still sticking with the sentiment).

Everyone on here will know how much I love Harry so Im making no secret of the fact Im sitting here crying as I write this.

I feel priviledged to have met him four times last season and watched him play in the A-League.

This has come totally out of the blue but to be honest Im not surprised. Thank you so much for everything Harry, you have been a true servant to the club and you have made me so happy. I will miss you more than I can possibly say in words. xxx

My first memory of Harry Ellis was watching him leap over a ruck at The City Ground (Nottingham Forest) in a Heineken Cup semi-final against Llanelli. Cover out to the left, cover out to the right, Harry picked the only route without cover, namely straight through the middle. He leapt over the pile of bodies that had just delivered him the ball, and then sprinted for the line, remembering the Gareth Edwards dive to ensure that the covering defence could do nothing to stop him claiming the 5 points.

Without this, the last minute penalty by Stimpson would have counted for nothing.

Sad news for the club, the fans but most of all Harry Ellis, who has, for me, been a legend in a Tigers and England Shirt.

Although not entirely unexpected after the injury it's still a shame to see a talent cut off in it's/his prime.

Thanks for the memories Harry, would be great to see the club offer, and you accept, an invitation to stay with us in one form or another, even though it may be difficult in the immediate future.

All the best.
Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.
