Re: New Away Shirt
Shirts do look better in the flesh. Not sure about grey/platinum as a fashion colour 'though.
Valhalla I am coming!
Re: New Away Shirt
Spot on. As a club which expects to be the best and win everything how about we instead have a star to represent each failure to win the Premiership or the Heineken? It makes a serious point that we believe ourselves to be the very best, parodies the pretentiousness of the stars and, most importantly of all, for the sake of keeping our shirts aesthetically pleasing it provides further motivation to not :censored: up.POSTIGER wrote:I think that's unnecessary and pretentious.
Re: New Away Shirt
Has anyone any idea when it is going to be available to buy?
A mate of mine heard that the reason for the delay was that the original "print" of shirts all had "Guinness Premiership" on the shirts, not Aviva! Urban myth, or schoolboy error?

Re: New Away Shirt
Saw the training shirt in the flesh yesterday (Black/Grey) looks great but they only have the lycra one at £65 - too much. The shop assistant said they weren't getting a 'norma' one...
And the away kit for 'September' .... maybe in on Monday....

The delays in releasing the shirt can be summed up in one word. CATERPILLAR. Every aspect of the new design has to be approved by the big bosses and this meant sending samples to the USA, which of course meant delays.JayA wrote:Has anyone any idea when it is going to be available to buy?

The reason for the dull grey colour? Well when you put the Caterpillar logo in black all over a grey kit, it really stands out. This is not a shirt, its an advert. Cat initially disapproved of the Cotton Traders logo, as they wanted to be the soul advertiser on the shirt but they had to back down on that one.
Other delays were down to how the colour would translate to the standard cotton kit. It looks fine on the nice shiny PQ but in dull cotton, no so. Whether that problem has been sorted, we will have to wait and see.
We should all be able to judge next week, as the club want the shirt for sale at the first home game.

Rather daft considering they must've known it was going to have QBE and (what turned out to be) Aviva branding on it whatever happened!doogie wrote: Cat initially disapproved of the Cotton Traders logo, as they wanted to be the soul advertiser on the shirt but they had to back down on that one.

The new shirt looks slightly better - but also even more Newcastle Falcons - in the new photo; though the hue of the 'platinum' does also seem even more like 'moulded plastic office equipment grey'.

As for Doogie's comments above, sound entirely plausible (and possibly also responsible for the vom-inducing stars - sponsors associated with 'marks of success', and a nice visual aid for the suits from the sponsor(s) to explain to their corporate guests in the diamond seats something about rugby and something about LT, launch pad for the 'success' mantra).
Now, who was it who was sticking the boot into me for agreeing that things are becoming, sadly, more 'corporate' at WR...?? Or am I just a middle-aged cynic??

If the first proposition is true, the solution is simple - rather like that to the cr*p service and high prices in the catering outlets:jgriffin wrote:For your last sentence, agree with both propositions contained therein.
Do not buy the new away shirts.
Our opinions may not matter as much to the club as we would like. Loss of revenue will, however, attract their attention!
Still keeping the faith!

The stars aren't the first time though are they, so I suspect it comes from within. Remember the way the CT branding, 1880 and Tiger's head went "gold" on the shirt released for the season after the first HC win and 3rd league championship in a row?JWM wrote: As for Doogie's comments above, sound entirely plausible (and possibly also responsible for the vom-inducing stars - sponsors associated with 'marks of success'
