Predictions for Next Season's Guinness Premiership

Post by voice of the crumbie »

Like Leicester Tigers Management and Players I expect to win every game. However as a bit of fun and to start a debate here's what I reckon would be a reasonable prediction for our results.

Leicester Tigers fixtures 2010/11

Fixture Result Pts
Sat Sept 4: Northampton Saints (Away) Premiership Rugby Round 1 LBP 1
Sat Sept 11: Exeter Chiefs (Home) Premiership Rugby Round 2 BPW 6
Sat Sept 18: London Wasps (Away) Premiership Rugby Round 3 LBP 7
Sat Sept 25: Leeds Carnegie (Home) Premiership Rugby Round 4 BPW 12
Sat Oct 2: Saracens (Away) Premiership Rugby Round 5 LBP 13
Sat Oct 23: Bath Rugby (Home) Premiership Rugby Round 6 W 17
Sat Oct 30: Gloucester Rugby (Away) Premiership Rugby Round 7 W 21
Sat Nov 20: Harlequins (Home) Premiership Rugby Round 8 BPW 26
Sat Nov 27: Newcastle Falcons (Home) Premiership Rugby Round 9 BPW 31
Sat Dec 4: London Irish (Away) Premiership Rugby Round 10 LBP 32
Sun Dec 26: Sale Sharks (Home) Premiership Rugby Round 11 BPW 37
Sat Jan 1: Exeter Chiefs (Away) Premiership Rugby Round 12 BPW 42
Sat Jan 8: Northampton Saints (Home) Premiership Rugby Round 13 W 46
Sat Feb 12: Leeds Carnegie (Away) Premiership Rugby Round 14 W 50
Sat Feb 19: London Wasps (Home) Premiership Rugby Round 15 W 54
Sat Feb 26: Sale Sharks (Away) Premiership Rugby Round 16 LBP 55
Sat Mar 5: Saracens (Home) Premiership Rugby Round 17 W 59
Sat Mar 26: Bath Rugby (Away) Premiership Rugby Round 18 LBP 60
Sat Apr 2: Harlequins (Away) Premiership Rugby Round 19 W 64
Sat Apr 16: Gloucester Rugby (Home) Premiership Rugby Round 20 BPW 69
Sat Apr 23: Newcastle Falcons (Away) Premiership Rugby Round 21 W 73
Sat May 7: London Irish (Home) Premiership Rugby Round 22 BPW 78

Key: W = win, BPW = bonus point win, LBP = losing bonus point

If we achieve thes we should easily make the play offs.

What do you think?

That would be good but I think it is more realistic to expect that, as there have been quite a few changes to the squad and Leicester have been slow starters for the past two seasons, we will not get the first few tbp you are expecting (including Exeter- I reckon they'll beat Gloucester and make it difficult for us).
Still, 73/4 is enough to come top again :smt023

[quote="voice of the crumbie"]Like Leicester Tigers Management and Players I expect to win every game.

Not sure they do expect to win every game - hence our less than fantastic away record - these days more a case of hoping to pick up LBP's from away games, with the odd win here and there as a bonus.

my prediction for Exeter, being local here, is that they will find the step up too much and will NOT WIN a game. They have made the odd signing here and there, like a few from Bristol, but basically their squad will be this years Div one side. It has always been the case, shown by our soccer clubs, good players will not move too far south and west! :smt022

The bookies have Tigers at very short odds to win the GP and I agree. Our squad is more experienced and stronger than last years, very astute signings so far.
We started last season slowly with a mixture of accademy and "A" league players due to an horendous(sp?) injury list.
Apart from the odd black eye here and there,we look in great shape for next season and will start with a bang.Pre season games look tough, which is exactly what you need to get the adrenelin pumping.
Do we get to keep the Guinness pot if we win it three times on the trot, the same as we did with the old John Player knockout one?
(By the way is it still the Guinness league,I thought lv were taking over?)
"If you want entertainment, go to the theatre," says Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill. "Rugby players play the game to win.15/1/21.

Yep tough for sure but they could win a game or two at home against the sides around them.

I think I hope your predicted results are closer than our predicted fixture dates given early form with the moving of the friendly with Leinster!

Venter is deported/sacked
I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand it would be great on the other we need a pantomime villain to "vent" our spleen against.

Tigerburnie I believe you are correct about LV taking over. Who cares who sponsors it anyway as long as Tigers win :smt038 :smt038 :smt038

To have LI as top four and Wasps finishing last is either a wind up or just rubbish. LI just about hung on to mid table by the end of last year and nothing they've done closed season should give anybody any confidence of anything like the improvement required. They'll be fighting it out with Quins for 6th/7th. And if you think Wasps will finish below both Exeter and Newcastle, you need help.

Bath will be top four, you can be sure of it, along with Tigers & Sarries, but I think the other spot belongs to either Wasps or Glaws.

I'm with Roly on this. I can't see LI finishing in the top 4. I would have Stains there again. At the bottom Wasps will be struggling with Harlequins to make an impact and Leeds pushing for a place in Europe. Exeter will be out of their depth for 2/3rds of the campaign. Sale could struggle again...
