Player Blinded by Gouging
This is the consequence of eye gouging. Not pretty.

I have long argued that any Rugby player that intentionally injures another Rugby player by such acts as these should be banned from Rugby and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. I would hope this proves to be the case here.
Nowadays referees decide matches, players by how much.

life ban from rugby and a lengthy jail term for BH is the only answer

"life ban from rugby and a lengthy jail term for BH is the only answer" - at the very least, mightymouse!
I would advocate gonad removal as well.

Re: Player Blinded by Gouging
that's awful.
and the RFU has not been in contact with the victim. Hmmm.

Ban them for life.
If you did that to someone on the street you would be arrested and punished accordingly. Why then do some players get away with pathetic bans or a slap on the wrist? It's disgusting that anyone should feel the need to deliberately harm someone in that manner.

Utterly shocking.
If someone causes gouging by being a bit careless, then that's bad enough. But to have it done deliberately makes you wonder about the mental state of some people.

Kicks and scrums and ruck and roll.....Is all my brain and body need!

is this the same case that was in the press a couple of months again or a new case? either way its a disgusting act and the culprit should be locked up.

It is worthy that the RFU have still not even spoken to the victim, however.
Still keeping the faith!

Could the RFU be under the (mis)belief that by contacting him they may jeopardise a criminal investigation? Hmmm maybe not.
renewed best wishes to the guy!
Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.

Re: Player Blinded by Gouging
Disgraceful, should not be banned from playing, should be jailed for a long time!
If winning isn't everything, why do they bother keeping score?

Re: Player Blinded by Gouging
Had it happen to me twice, albeit not to this extent, much less severe, but both times were deliberate and left cuts around my eyes, can't get my head round what makes people do it and think it's acceptable, first time it was a club's player coach.....great example eh!?!

Re: Player Blinded by Gouging
My opinion is this is a criminal offence and should carry a custodial sentance,as a mere after thought the culprit should never be allowed to play rugby again.
They are clearly not sportsmen who do this,so do not deserve a "sporting chance",jail is the obvious answer.

Disgusting.
Happened to a young flanker when I played. Fortunately just had a grit-scratched cornea.
A few of us "had a stern conversation" with the opposing lock who was guilty after the match.
