Leicester v Harlequins

Post by tigermad »

:smt030 :smt030

Leicester back in action at Welford Road this weekend against Harlequins in what should be a sellout as the season reaches a fruitful conclusion - ish. Leicester in great form after the demolition job on Newcastle last weekend and should have a bit too much for Quins.

It really is counter productive to have nothing to play for when a couple of teams pull away and no point coming in first, perhaps we ought to get rid of the playoffs so clubs have to play EVERY week to win something :smt003

I think there IS something to play for. Everyone of the people I have spoken too at Glos, Wuss, Sarries etc (not a scientific sample, I agree) all say the same thing: the team that plays 22 matches and comes top are the champs and the playoffs are a separate competition. Let's do both.

You'd think some-one with a bit brain power could come up with an idea, something like, win the chamionship table, you are the champions.Win the playoffs and you win a DIFFERENT trophy.Win,win..............simples.

Or maybe you could have whoever finishes top wins the league and there is no need to even have a playoff. Isn't that the whole idea of having a league table??

I find it hard to believe that after all these years of playoff rugby some people still post this stuff.

Of course this is my own opinion and other posters may have a different perceived factual viewpoint.

I still like the idea of getting rid of the LV and the playoffs and replacing them with an end of season European League Cup with the top 2 or 3 clubs in the english, celtic, french and italian leagues playing a knockout competition. Every game a sellout :smt023
