Ireland team for Saturday

Post by Tiger Ghost »

It looks like the Irish are coming to play... BBC Sport is reporting that Sexton will replace O'Gara at 10. No news as yet on Geordan and the rest of the team

Bad news both for England and Tigers then with Geordan at 15 for Ireland. That makes the Saints trip that bit harder

Don't want to be negative but this Irish side will be far to strong for England.
Pleased for Geordie not so pleased for Tigers against Saints.

The intellegence of Geordan is so under rated. This will show if we keep kicking aimlessly in the match.

Id be unhappy if Geordan was on the bench, but because he is starting (and at FB!) im not as bothered.

Hope he comes through it unscathed. England are gonna get punished if they kick too much again.

I wish that I was as sanguine about that team as a lot of the Tigers posters here seem to be. John Hayes is coming to the end of the road and the prospect of Tony Buckley replacing him at 50 or 60 minutes really alarms me against a strong scummaging pack like England's! Buckley is a huge man but he does not scrummage well particularly against smaller props. Ferris is a great talent but he isn't match fit yet which showed in the last two games. While Rog has well known deficiencies in his game he was not helped in any way by a dreadful performance at 9 in Paris by Tomas O'Leary. He took a :censored: age to decide what to do with the ball and when he did pass it was long, loopy and slow. Reddan is no great shakes in the decision and passing department either. I'd have preferred to see Boss at 9. Coming back from injury DOC isn't match fit either and I really can't see how he strengthens the team over Leo Cullen at present. As for Keith Earls on the wing, he has a lot of talent but also clear defensive deficiencies not least of which, that he looks decidedly dodgy under a high ball. I fancy that Wilko will be kicking a lot of garryowens his way next Saturday. Geordan Murphy is very solid under that particular type of cosh but again as he's returning from injury can he be match fit? I'd have preferred Trimble or Horgan on the wing to Earls as I think our back 3 may see a lot of ball kicked to them at the w/e and either would be safer in that regard to Earls. I have a feeling that England will win this game though I'd be delighted if the opposite were the case.

JohnB, i bow to your greater knowledge of the Irish team but have you seen the stuff England have been producing?

I can predict what England will do in most situations so i'm sure your team & management will be able to.

England are very direct and fairly unimaginative, two attacking centres that never see the ball in thier hands but chase lots of poor kicks.
