My response was rather dry, wasn't it :smt001

Still, after reading a lot of extreme opinions from both sides, it's difficult to tell anymore whether something is said in jest, seriousness or downright trolling :smt017

Some have memory loss

Post by bluebell »

So Leicester are unhappy that something "unlawful" happened on the field of play that "had a bearing on the outcome of the match" - to the extent that they are demanding their Heineken Cup game with Ospreys be replayed.

Have they forgotten the 'Hand of Back' incident in the 2002 Heineken Cup final?

That was also unlawful, and had a bearing on the outcome of the match, depriving Munster of the cup. Did we hear any whining about replays then?

It has already been said that what back did is totally different to what ospreys did. Players handle the ball in the ruck linger offside etc all the time having an extra player is something totally different.

ospreys and the officials are the ones that have embarrassed the game not tigers.

It's as daft as Ireland asking to be allowed to play in the World cup

What might also have been overseen is the fact that our current issue is that the "offence" was actually spotted by the ref, but he didn't make the correct decision apparently. Making the correct decision would IMHO have increased the potential for a different result.

The hand of Back incident wasn't spotted. It wasn't like the ref saw it and said it was an offence but he's not going to do anything about it.

As an aside, the Munster coach said afterwards that if it had been one of his players who had done it, they would have been given the freedom of the city!

Good God!! when did this happen????
To be serious for a moment, I've never understood what law it is that says you can't do this. I know the front row can't interfere with the put in and I know the scrum half has to be a meter from the prop (so presumably Backy has the arms of a baboon :smt002 ). Any one know? It's always bugged me.
