Re: SA lineup for Friday
That's a stronger side than you expected?
Seriously?!?
Of the SA touring squad, the 23 players with the least number of caps totalled 123...and that ignores positions. That's just the least experienced 23 in their 37 man squad.
The side that faces Tigers has 186 caps. (Average of only 8 caps per player).
By comparison, the (weak) Tigers side that played Saints at the weekend featured internationals with a total of 241 caps between them.
So, the International "World Champions" opposition for Friday has 186 caps while our thrown-together Premiership side on Saturday had 241 caps...and that side included some Academy lads making their club debuts as well!
Makes me wonder just how weak you expected the SA side to be!

First mid week game. First international game in a while. Your going to experiment and put the players with less caps on.
But the likes of Ndungane, Olivier, Nokwe, Pienaar, Ralepelle, Du Plessis, Rossouw, Brussow and Potgieter all all very much a handful!

Re: SA lineup for Friday
Even though i am not going to the game due to being in France i am disapointed that SA have not at least put some of their best players on the bench.
I understand that they have important international tour games coming up, but 24,000 people have bought tickets for a game to see what is largely the SA B team.
Just a quick question. Will the South African and English national anthems be played before the game?

The South African national Anthem was being played before the gates opened on Saturday.

Ditto Darc Tiger. That is a World Class lineup for the game against Leicester and it should be a tasty encounter in front of 24000 on Friday. I shall be there.Darc Tiger wrote:First mid week game. First international game in a while. Your going to experiment and put the players with less caps on.

Stuart Dickinson (Australia) is the referee with Roy Maybank and Robin Goodgrief as his cheerleaders.
Re: SA lineup for Friday
I can't wait to see Heinrich Brussow on Friday. He was the man-of-the series for the saffers against the Lions in my opinion and the discovery of the year in world rugby.
Reminds me of Neil Back with the 'too small' arguements whilst he continues to steal turnover ball at the breakdown!

Re: SA lineup for Friday
It all depends on which game Cockers takes as priority. Will he field a strong team for SA and rely on the academy to get the win in the Anglo-Welsh? Or will he put out a mixed for both?

Re: SA lineup for Friday
My own feelings are that he will mix and match for both fixtures erring towards the stronger side for the Leeds gameDarc Tiger wrote:It all depends on which game Cockers takes as priority. Re: SA lineup for Friday
Problem Cockers has....
He can't really field a weakened side against Leeds after they turned over the Wycombe Wasps.

Kicks and scrums and ruck and roll.....Is all my brain and body need!
