I think it should be pointed out to elleteejay that she (or he) had only made a couple of dozen posts at this point and may be wondering what just happened.

You are not the first to stir up the hornets nest that contains some of our more irascible members.

You'll learn to love them in the end. Their constant sniping at each other is every bit as entertaining as Stadler & Waldorf in the Muppet Show.

You'll find that I am all sweetness and light, albeit another wretched pedant.

JGriffin, I am also a teacher although not a 'proper' one as I teach P.E. which is wyh my spilling is not gery vood or my sentance structure and punctuation I wanted to teach R.E. but I filled the form in wrong.

Was unaware that we teachers were disliked so much in some quarters.

No one ever said that teachers were disliked.

I think the inference was that maybe SOME teachers and ex-teachers are a little over zealous in pointing out errors made by others.

I think this is a slur. Being one of those considered two thick to go to University, I had no chance of becoming a teacher. Yet I can pedant it with the best of 'em.

I am not a teacher, nor did I go to University (mainly because I goofed around in sixth form and got bad grades) - bad grammar and spelling irks me, but not so much that I bother about it on here really. If someone asks me to edit for them I will but that's all. I do edit my boss's dictation as I type it but IMO that's a secretary's job

Having said that, aren't we a bit off topic here?
