Ben Herring

Post by MJ Chairman »

Just had a look at the mercury on line which shows a picture of the team in pre season training. The guy in the orange shirt who I'm assuming is a coach leading the session looks very like Ben Herring.
Does any one know if he has been retained in some coaching capacity, I have checked on the web site but there is no information

Definitely Ben Herring. Who could mistake that beard! I hadn't heard anything either but he did stick around the team after he announced his retirement last season when he could easily have returned to NZ.

Wouldnt mind him coaching the pack in regards to the breakdown etc.

Would take a bit of weight off Cockers as well. Obviously Ben made some great friends with us.

The Herring filled up some of his time last season reporting on the Tigers especially and the GP/European rugby in general on New Zealand telly.

I caught an interview he did with Scott Hamilton on YouTube.

If I find the link I'll post it later.

At the game against Leinster we were lucky enough to be at the after the game buffet and listen to the speeches for the players and we were told that Ben would be staying on in a coaching capacity,so good news eh? :smt045
We will succeed, we cannot fail the only obstacle is doubt...
Was a great game, is still a great game, will always be a great game.

Just been reading the following link, confirmation that Ben has taken a coaching position, glad he is stopping with the club.

This is what makes me think we are well in order for the new season, those who matter and have something to offer, stay with this marvelous club. Those who have drifted down the London(ish) or Parissian way,may be kicking their own backsides at the end of the season and asking themselves why they made the biggest mistake of their careers in leaving Welford road.
My confidence is growing with each little piece of information that comes by,this time I do belive we have the right teams, both on and off the pitch.I am so confident I might even give that nasty little media man some of my hard earned readies and get sky sports(dependant on whether there's going to be plenty of Tigers games on it).
"If you want entertainment, go to the theatre," says Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill. "Rugby players play the game to win.15/1/21.

Reported in yesterday's Merc that he will be coaching the 1st team on the breakdown and tackle area and working with those who are in transition from academy to senior team.

Great news!!
