Harry Toews & Nick Clapinson were both, I think, Canadian internationals who played, albeit briefly for Tigers (I think Clapinson may only have played once).

I was going through some old VHS video tapes and came accross that match by surprise. I watched the game and thoroughly enjoyed seeing it again. What a match! What a result! :smt038

I still have the game on VHS. I don't even have a VHS player, but couldn't bring myself to throw it away when I was discarding all my other old videos.

Winston Stanley was a source of amusement for us, because at the time I was sharing a house at university with a guy called John Winstanley.

I remember when he over ran a potential Try scoring opportunity, in a Saracens game, I think. He ran with the ball in to the advertising hoardings behind the posts and dropped it instead. It was quite amusing. :smt036

Stanley also cost Tigers a win at Sale as he took the ball over the dead ball area after crossing the try line, without placing the ball down for the try.

I think that was the game I was on about. Tigers got a draw in the end. Disappointing, but we won the Championship that year anyway.
