Parking at Leicester Station.
As an out-of-towner who doesn't know the centre of Leicester very well, could someone please advise me about parking at /near the station. I am leaving early Saturday morning and returning Sunday evening. Is the station car park set up for this and if so where is it?
Before anyone suggests it, I have rung Leicester Station and was transferred to a call centre on the subcontinent. Initially, they were unable to find Leicester but eventually I was advised to just turn up and park at the station! Very insightful and confidence-inspiring, I must say. I don't want to be driving around early on Saturday looking for somewhere to park for 2 days.
Numerous parking websites are equally vague unless I want to park in the East St multi-storey @ £11.30 per day.
Thanks in advance for some expert local knowledge.

Station car park is approached via Campbell Street.

Not sure about the prices as I have not parked there for some time.

Re: Parking at Leicester Station.
Ifyou dont mind a little walk-carry on up London Road towards Oadby. Once you are beyond the Stoughton Road traffic lights you can park on any side street (no lines on the road).
Any of the bus stops on London Road will take you up and down to the station especially if you don't fancy the trudge back to the car afterwards (its uphill) but if youv'e been sitting in a car for hours it might just get everything working again!

Your best off getting the train in Peterborough.
Goes direct to Edinburgh.
(Obviously you would then park in Peterborough!)

Re: Parking at Leicester Station.
I parked in the train station a few weeks ago for a couple of days and it was £10 per 24 hours.
Quite expensive but if I park at Grantham station that is £10 per 24 hours so it must be the going rate for main stations.
I am sure that they have cameras covering the carpark.

Parking in Stoneygate:- I don't live there but I know that they are all a very nosey bunch, which probably makes parking safe.
Depends what you are parking though. Too many Mercs nowadays. An Audi/BMW might stand out but a heap won't because it's near the halls of residence for the students.

Thanks everyone. I don't mind paying (within reason) for reasonably secure parking so will try the station car park.
A Skoda isn't too ostentatious, is it?byrontiger wrote:Depends what you are parking though. Too many Mercs nowadays. An Audi/BMW might stand out but a heap won't
