A tigers legend and hero. At his best he was far and away a better all round player than Dayglo.

I just hope there is a fitting tribute in the new Caterpillar Stand for Cozza.

His career stats say it all. He is right up there on a par with Oz, Jonno, Backy and Deano. A true tigers legend. He has been an inspiration to me as long as iv been playing rugby, my hero as a kid and as a young man a role model. Good luck with the future, he says he wishes he could keep playing forever, quite frankly I wish he could too! Stayed behind in case you came out for a retirement lap, praying you didnt!

I'd like to take this opportunity to wish Martin the best of luck on his retiremnet. As a munster fan it has been a pleasure to watch him in action against us & it also has to be said that he has always carried himself off as one of the most honest Rugby players ever to play the me(the best trait any person can have according to any Munster man). A true gentleman off and even off the pitch.
Watching him step out of the lineup after the National Anthem in the first ever Rugby match in Croke Park(alot of history) and applaude the fans was a true measure of the character of the man.

So here's to you Martin, go out & get as drunk as you can, you truely deserve it!!

From every true Irish & Munster fan...

Genuinely gutted, but not entirely surprised!

Every article you will read about Coz remarks what a genuine, honest professional he is: This cannot be personified more than the debacle of Robinson-era England. Coz was the hardest working player throughout, and totally honest afterwards regardless of result! A credit to any shirt he has worn, and an inspiration to all! Remember the 2001 Lions? Not even in the squad initially..........proved the selectors wrong there eh?

I think I am just as sad to see him go as I was Johnno, Backy, Wig and Oz!

Good luck big 'un on whatever you choose to do!

I can only repeat what others have said - he's a really top man, extremely dignified and an example to all players ( especially the fancy footballers!) on how to act under all circumstances.

A gent and a true professional for both club and country. His experience will be missed on the field. I hope he stays around as part of the coaching staff.

The sentimental part of me hopes you get in the match day 22's for the next 2 weeks.

Would be a fitting end of your career

Thanks Cozza

Totally respected by everyone.
Never heard him blame coaches or team mates for anything, alot of younger players would learn alot from Coz.

Well done and enjoy whatever you do next. :smt038

Honest Coz they called him, and such a nice man as well as a great player. Hopefully we won't lose him at WR completely, although he deserves some time off with his family.

(hint - if you want to, you can always write to him care of the club with your own personal message.)

Truly Saddened to hear the News of Martin's Retirement on route home after a great win over Bath. It has been an honour and a privelige to have watched him lead the tigers on so many occasions over the years. He has always been the true embodiment of what sets Rugby apart from other professional sports, Honourable and Modest in both Victory and Defeat and never willing to give anything but his best.
We wish him and his family all the very best for the future (hopefully in some capacity at tigers) and a Truly Sincere Thanks for the Memories.
