Interesting Question (Well I thinkso anyway!)

Post by Northenlad »

Can you put your feet on the posts (or post protectors) to hold someone back from scoring? As I've just seen in the Super 14s a guy tried to slide in for a tackle and if the defender had put his feet against the posts as they slid towards the line it would have held him back and stopped him getting over the line. Is it allowed?
If winning isn't everything, why do they bother keeping score?

Yes.

If a scrum touches the posts it has to be reset 5m out again (flanker straining to touch it with his foot) and if trying to score the ball can touch the floor and the post protector and that be classed as on the line
