He deserved it. He gave the club very little option with the way he got the team playing. Do you think the club will bother signing any other new coaches, with things going so well. I think we could do with a director of rugby, some one like Clive Woodward, who is a old leicester boy, and is still involved with the club.

:smt041 :smt041 Thats great news. The way he has turn the team around has been amazing - long may it continue!!

All we need now is confirmation the Vest has re-signed then I will be really happy!

I have been holding back until it was officially announced.

Now that it is I think it is absolutely fantastic news.

Congratulations to Richard Cockerill. No more than he deserved after stepping in and turning the season around for Leicester Tigers.

I know that most people will think it is poorly timed and I absolutely acknowledge that Cockers has done wonderfully well to date, but I still see Cockers as a great No.2 but not a head coach. Having said that, I wish him the very best.

Sometimes #2's operate very effectively as #1's when they have under them #2's who ought to be #1's but do not wish to be.

As the man said "a man has got to know his limitations".

All best wishes Cockers.

As has been tentatively discussed on other threads, can anyone see Mauger taking on a coaches/player coaches role at Tigers as he winds his career down and joining Cockers coaching team? Also, any suggestions as to a potential new forwards coach to replace him?

Oh dear, oh dear. Why does Cockers need to appont a forwards coach? He himself ain't gone anyplace else has he?

And Mauger has a role which may decline in playing and consolidate in coaching. Good.

There is absolutely no need to fill in names on a hypothetical job chart.
