Have to say with the new rules how much i and it would seem to be most of the crowd also miss the maul.
Since the new rules came in there appears a distinct lack of crowd involvement and passion with a game that now involves kicking and very little grunt.

I am surprised that the coaching team haven't developed a new form of the maul to combat the ELVs, wretched things that they are.
Even though the front of the maul can be taken down, the ball could be shifted to the back more quickly, making for an even more dynamic maul than before. But hey, what do I know..

Saints proved you can maul. It just needs to be setup right. Long and thin, so that when the front is pulled down the back is still standing and can peel away. They were very successful in their mauling and forwards play in the last 10 minutes.

Bring ack the traditional functional maul is what I say. It worked fine and is never easy to set up so whay get rid of it. It is a fine art to get a maul going and keep it going without the opposition trying to pull it down.
Success only comes before work in the dictionary.

Seeing as Northampton managed to get some mauls going today and the whole point of the ELV to allow collapsing of mauls was to stop them from happening, can we now ban collapsing of mauls again please.
The vast majority of supporters and players in the northern hemisphere don't like this law but what frustrates me most is that players are actually trying to collapse mauls. They should show some solidarity and all Northern hemisphere clubs should agree that their players will not attempt to pull down mauls.
It looks utterly embarrassing watching a player hang onto the side of a maul trying to pull it down.

Excuse me. Where do I get a yellow balaclava from?
I asked Gavin Henson if they sold them at Matalan but he said they didn't because they messed his hair up.

That'll work just fine YBH until a team, probably Leicester, is happily trundling a ball towards the try line, then the solidarity will go out of the window!
Players can, will and must play to the rules of the game as they currently exist. You can lobby to change a law but until it does change it is part of the law of the game.
