Smoke on the water

Post by LeamQuin »

I'm a Quins fan and made my first trip to Welford Road this weekend, I must say I thoroughly enjoyed my day, atmosphere exactly what I expected. Thought you should have gone in 20 points ahead at half time but a win is a win! I sat in the Crumbie this visit but I'll be stood on the terrace in November, can't wait!
I have one question, why run on to Deep Purple's Smoke on the Water, is there some link I'm too thick to spot or is it just because it's a cracking riff? :supz:

It's because a certain Mr. Johnson liked the song, and no-one dared to disagree with him. That could be an urban legend though.

Johnno asked for it to be played when he was skipper and that's good enough for me.

By the way it is a cracking riff.

Smoke on the Water

Just in case the annual "replace it" campaign starts (!) Leave it alone. I like it. Its better than most run outs.I also like Kasabian, but Smoke on the Water is US! Oddly enough I also like the old REM number about the Shiny Happy People when we win. I think it's called tradition!! :smt002 No changes needed!

While we're on this subject, what is the song played before Smoke on the Water called?

I'm pretty sure it's called 'Time for action'.

This could degenerate..........Showaddywaddy were from Leicester as well, but I can't see them coming out to "under the moon of love"
Family's "weavers answer? or Gypsys "Change is coming"?The bass player in Queen was an Oadby lad....bit premature for" we are the champions"

Will do, but I often find new people don't bother reading the FAQs anyway, or else they simply don't notice them.

Smoke On The Water was recently voted the best riff in the whole wide world ever, by 80 trillion people currently living in the Universe.

It is quite atmospheric, all in all.
