New ELV

"A Mark may be made anywhere on the field of play. When a Mark is made the side may choose to take a free kick from the point of the Mark or a scrum back from where the ball was kicked (their put in) "

This would stop the arial ping pong!

You may as well just have a ELV to say kicking isn't allowed.....unless it's a kick off, a kick for goal or after the 5th tackle.......... :smt002

Nice point!

Or if it bounces into touch!

And note the restart is a (hopefully contested) scrum. Or a line out. Not quite RL!!!

Unless it occurs in the last quarter of a game that Wasps are winning . :smt002

Another ELV!!

Something to the effect that uncontested scrums will not be tolerated , anytime, anywhere!
Or... Wasps must not enter matches with only 2.5 props. (If I remember rightly there was some more sensible suggestions from far more knowledgable people after the Prem Final last timeIt needs sorting. Otherwise certain teams will continue to exploit this loophole. The Wasps guy may have had an injury, but they knew how little Vickery stays on the field...

Now that I have suggested it and we are discussing it surely it is only a matter of time for it to be introduced!

A few other ideas:

1) Reduce the team to 13 players - this will make more room on the pitch which will inevitably lead to more tries.
2) To reduce the problems with teams going for uncontested scrums if they are getting mullered then simply make all scrums uncontested. Thos should also speed the game up.
3) Since the breakdown and ensuing rucks are becoming impossible to ref then do away with them and after the tackle the tackled player simply passes it back to a team mate.
4) To avoid the boring and repetitive pick and drives etc then instigate a new rule that after say 5/6 phases you automatically loose the ball.

Just a few ideas to ensure Rugby Union stays the most attractive and entertaining sport in the world.

NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!

The last thing the game needs is more ELVs.

Quite clearly it is lacking in Orks.

Had Wasps had a couple of Orks on the bench instead of Little Red Riding hood and Old Mother Hubbard they could at least tried to keep scrummaging on Saturday.

Well, I think we all agree that the new ELVs haven't exactly been a roaring success, so how about these ones:

1. The breakdown is a mess so allow players to use their feet to "encourage" opposing players not to lie on the wrong side.

2. Lineouts are pretty chaotic so limit the number of players contesting (ensuring equal representation from both sides) and ban lifting as it is poorly reffed as it currently stands.

3. Too much aerial ping pong: the problem is players can boot the ball a fair old way nowadays so make the ball heavier so players cannot kick it as far. In fact, make the ball out of leather - in the wet it will be particularly heavy, which is ideal.

4. It seems a lot of people want the game sped up. Drop goals are a pretty quick way of scoring so let's encourage more of them by reducing the score for a try from 5 points to 1. This would also discourage teams from giving away penalties.

How does that sound?? :smt003

5. Crooked feeds to the scrum. Crooked feeds to the line out. Shall become Penalty offences.

6. All offside offences shall reult in a penalty in the centre of the field 15m further from the point of the offence or at the centre spot which ever is the further forward.
