Music at half time.

Post by Iain »

If they play the Z Cars theme at half time again they'll have me to answer to! :smt013 :smt013 :smt013

As a hardened Liverpool fan I'm not having the Everton theme tarnishing Welford Road.

Other Red Tigers annoyed by this on Saturday?

I understand it was played to honour one of the groundsmen at his special request. Therefore I doubt it would be played again.

Let the record show that Iain and I were enjoying a smoke at half time together and whilst I was oblivious to the music he went aploplectic!!

He feels strongly. And therefore has my support!!

I am a Red Tiger, albeit the honourable Garabaldi Red of Nottingham Forest.

So I have no axe to grind with the "Toffees" from the blue side of Liverpool.

But Z Cars is a dreadful tune.

If both you and Iain deplore it Kinny that is good enough for me! Let it be consigned to the scrap heap!!

I may be thick but what has Z cars to do with Everton and Liverpool? Isn't it actually the melody to an old English folk song?

Z Cars is Everton's theme. It is what they run out to at Goodison. I imagine playing You'll Never Walk Alone would have a similar effect on Evertonian Tigers.

I believe the link is that Z Cars was based on Merseyside, and Everton adopted the theme.

And Bill is right. My level of apoplecticness was rather high at this point. I returned to the terrace and announced I would give up my season ticket if they ever pulled a stunt like that again!

Gods Music!

A dirty red in Leicester? Surely you should be living in Devon. Or Norway.

Having had to work on Saturday, I missed this momentous occasion, but I'll be emailing the club to ask for it to be played every week.....what a great tune to come out to for the second half!!

I'm with Belper John, leave your 'round ball' rivalries out of Welford Road, this is the home of the great sport, not the whingers and winers game.

If the tune was to honor one of the groundsmen, recognise it as such and celebrate what a great job they did on the pitch (see other thread on forum).

Ever-who - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Maybe they could go through all the old classic theme tunes one week after the other: Z cars last weekend, Vanderwalk the next, Minder the week after? that'd be great.
