Sad news, as it always is when its through injury.
He was a good player (not rated by many on here I know but..)

Good luck Leon with whatever the future brings.

Very sad news. A great servant for Leicester during his time at Welford Road, always willing to spend time with the supporters after the games, signing autographs and pics etc.

Leon, wishing you all the best for the future wherever the path may lead.

Thanks for the memories.

Hard luck Leon. Great player for the Tigers. Very rarely seen him beaten in defence. Wishing you all the best for the future.

What a bummer. I always rated him, even when he was going through his 'bad patch' when recovering from injury. And he's a nice bloke too.

Good luck Leon in whatever you do next.

Echoing what others have said about him being willing to spend time with supporters and being the perfect gentleman.

All the best for the future, Leon. :smt006

It's sad to see Leon has been forced to retire as I had hoped his move to Gloucester would give him more game time.

I was always glad when Leon bounced back in his final years at Tigers after his dip in form & the boo boys that continuously got on his back.

It was also good to see the club award him a testimonial as he was certainly deserving of it for his long & faithful service to the club.

It's not a bad career for the guy given that he nearly died in a serious car crash when he was 17 or 18 & after that played the rest of his career with two metal plates in his left arm!

At least now he will be able to concentrate on his "lifestyle" business:

Shedhead 1 here:

All the very best from everyone at Gloucester and the Shed. Very nice bloke and true professional. I remember seeing Leons 'Impish' try at Welford Road last season.

A true professional. All the very best.

Sad to think Leon has had to retire, I feel he still had a lot to give to the game. Good luck for your future business Leon.

Sad miss to the game - i always used to smile when Leon when he first came into the team - and had been adopted by a small group of us central terraceites who used to do a bit of "Leeon leeon" whenever he scored or did a great tackle or something and he would always look up and look a bit sheepish as if to say surely you don't mean me.

good lad even if his hands occasionally let him down.

I do remember the try he scored against us on his first trip back - you almost knew that was going to happen it was almost a trade mark leon try. I remember when he had a spell in the centre(not his best position generally ) and Pat Howard would put him through a little gap and away he would be to the line - (a trick I think Erindle could repeat with Mauger given half a chance)

Wishing Leon all the best in the future. What a shame it's injury ending his career - he was in great try scoring form at the start of last season

Saturday 19th May 2001. Parc des Princes, Paris.

I will always consider him a legend for this day. He made me jump around and hug people I didn't even know in the Parisian sun.

Good luck Leon!
