Saxons commentary - Ollie Smith to Montpellier

Post by adamv6 »

Just been watching Saxons game and the commentator has said.

"Ollie Smith the Leicester centre, who will plying his trade in Montpellier next season".

Slip of the tongue, or it is fairly well known in the press circles?

this has been widely mentioned in many circles now.

why, just yesterday my 8 old year looked up at me and said that sunbeam (her imaginary unicorn friend) had told her ollie smith the tiger would playing at montpellier nexyt year.

still nothing official of course, but sunbeam does sometimes throw light onto things.

Smith

Smith has not had the best deal under ML played out of position on wing or left out. Good solid player I will be sorry to see him leave but rumours have been around for a while and maybe he wants more game time.

I for one will be sorry to see him go, but can't really blame him after the lack of chances given to him last season.

Maybe if it's unconfirmed it's not true :smt002

IMHO

Ollie's not really fulfilled his potential and is nowhere near the player he was 5 or 6 years back.

He'll be 26 this summer. For reasons well publicised, he's been having problems for a while and I don't believe this is something that can be layed at ML's door.

Change of scenery will hopefully be the catalyst that he and his career needs.

I thought this had been confirmed some time back.

Ollie was talking about it openly at the players awards night, so it didn't seem like a big secret.
Our period of waiting is over - this is the time.

I never rated him too be fair. He wasn't particularly impressive for the Saxons, and hasn't been for the Tigers.

Erinle should be in the Saxons over Smith

It's true trust me. He could pull out of it but he won't.

I must say that he really was all over the shop against the USA. A shame, but clearly needs a fresh start somewhere.

13 starts at 13,
2 starts at 12,
4 matches on the bench,
12 matches not playing.

Is that really a lack of chances?

Agreed Trout, I think Ollie should have gone last year when he was thinking about it. He looks stale and disinterested, and I'd love to see him rejuvenated and back to his best - for this he needs to move on. I wish him all the best.
