I'm surprised that Jake White is considered favourite.

An internal promotion (plus backs coach) seems more likely to me.

Didn't I read somewhere that ML and Jake White are big buddies? If so, do you think it likely that White will want to come?

Nah, short odds on a good ole Leicester old-boy carve up.

does anyone really think neil back will be director of rugby????

and after richard cockerill's ridiculous comments he should be sacked.

therefore i think there would be no harm in giving austin a go or how about tim stimpson????

comments please

the bottom line is that after the disgraceful treatment meted out to ML, no coach of any standing will want to come within a thousand miles of Welford Road. We are turning into a laughing stock

Should be White.....more likely Jobs for the Boys!

Don't forget it took White 4yrs of hard slog to win the RWC no way the present board will wait that long for trophys!
To win is not as important as playing with style!

After the way Jake White was treated by the SARFU he should feel right at home for his 6 month stint at Welford Road

Just excuse me a minute while I jump off a cliff, or slit my wrists, at the thought of Back or Cockerill taking over.
Talk about rewarding incompetence.
I fail to understand why Leicester ,one of the richest clubs in the northern hemisphere,is so parochial, about giving jobs to "old boys".
Are they afraid to loosen the pursestrings to finance outsiders ?
We need a decent head coach and some specialist back, forward , defence and fitness coaches - all of which we can afford. so where is the problem?
The appalling handling of Loffreda will make any likely candidates very wary. The board has brought the club into disrepute over this debacle.

An internal promotion (plus backs coach) seems more likely to me.
That would be a complete disaster.

I don't know if promoting Back (possibly the more likely of the two) would be a 'complete disaster' any more than I know that it would be a 'complete success'.

I just find that my amusement at everyone dealing in absolutes this last two days has worn increasingly thin.

Absolutely Daily. I completely agree with you.

However, if it is now the right thing to do to appoint Back why wasn't it 8 months ago? Insofar as I am aware there are no internal candidates available now who were not available when Marcelo was appointed.

Further, the Board have set themselves a very high threshold for success/failure. Likely this quantum (3 finals and at least one pot) will not be met. There can be no excuses if the appointee is internal - he will have to be fired with likely the resignation of one of the Peters and an "outsider" brought in.

The Board have made this rod for their own back. (whoops)
