Tigers Team for tomorrow

Post by Stuart A »

The team has been announced then!

No real suprises then apart maybe for poor old George Chuter, who must be pretty gutted on missing out, as must Johne Murphy who presumably is missing through injury

Does anyone know what's happened to George?

Hopefully, the fire's still in their bellies and the lads will as kevf says "tackle hard keep them in their 22" plus look out for Sackey and his long armed hand offs. It'll be interesting to see Flutey at 10 with Van Gisbergen giving kicking options.

I'm very excited now, this should be a cracker of a game given it's full capacity.

C'mon Tigers

So is George Chuter out because of injury or form?

Form I think.

He was OK to play last weekend in the Classic ABs game & Loffreda had said publically that anyone who was due to play in the final would not be selected for the CAB game.

His selection last week therefore implied that Muffin & BK2 would be the hookers of choice for tomorrows decider.

For tigers to win presumably they have to target Flutey at FH Vickery at prop and then make sure they can tackle Sackey.

I think that you have to feel for Johne Murphy as vs. Wasps the previous two times he was a stand out player and has been all season but then if he isn't fit he can't play.

I agree. Muffin's performance against Gloucester was probably his finest in a Tigers jersey so he's on a roll!

Speaking to the Gloucester fan I was at the game with he thought it may even have been Muffin's best performance at Kingsholm!

The backs will be excellent..... if they play to their true potential.

And there's the rub!
Kicks and scrums and ruck and roll.....Is all my brain and body need!

yeah, the tackling needs to be hard and the breakdown ferocious. Wasps strongpoints are those, if we challenge them there it will ruffle them up a little and knock them off their stride. Get in their faces and like other teams.........they will crumble. I hope those boys are pumped like I'll be before kick off

I have to query why Ayerza is not playing though? The guy is a big time player, and I'm sorry, Muffin may have played well against Glaws, but Chutes is also a big time player and does not deserve to be treated in the way he has been in the latter stages of the season.
I just get a sneaky feeling Croft should be starting aswell. His battle with Haskell could have been something special, and they will be vying for the England 6 spot for years to come.
Minor gripes though, lets end the season on a high and destroy Dayglos' last game!

Logic of the team selection

Post by smalldell »

15 Geordan Murphy
14 Tom Varndell
13 Dan Hipkiss
12 Aaron Mauger
11 Alesana Tuilagi
10 Andy Goode
9 Harry Ellis

1 Boris Stankovich
2 Mefin Davies
3 Julian White
4 Marco Wentzel
5 Ben Kay
6 Martin Corry (c)
7 Ben Herring
8 Jordan Crane

Replacements

16 Ben Kayser
17 Marcos Ayerza
18 Richard Blaze
19 Tom Croft
20 Christophe Laussucq
21 Sam Vesty
22 Ayoola Erinle

If you look at the team you cannot play Herring and Ayeza at the same time so even having Ayerzaon the bench is a risk if we get a prop injury it will mean other changes to.

Start Ayerza and Herring cannot start, and with Moody and Abraham's out it would mean no natural openside and that would mean defeat.

So ultimately the team is a compromise. If Castro were fit I believe he would start with White on the bench. I think the props picked will cope adeuaely with the Wasps front row. Expect Ayerza and Croft to come on between 55 and 60 minutes.
