Not a bad team for the Newcastle match

Feel sorry for Ben Herring, thought he did enough to earn at least the bench.

God created rugby so footballers have heros too
We're starting to see a bit more of a settled side these days aren't we? Looks to be a good side to me. As the report says, unlucky on Herring who played really well last week, but such is the foreginer rule and they obviously want a strong front row.
Is Haymens playing? And is he playing well?

Front row
No issues, back to one prop on the bench.
Second row
Fair enough, although Wentzel goes from being many people's MOTM to bench duty.
Back row
Corry and Crane together is a concern, and Herring is (as others have said) an unfortunate victim of the foreigner rule. Whither Luke Abraham?
Half backs
Would appear to be, officially, our best pairing.
Centres
No issues; OC is Rabeni's best position IMO.
Back three
Undoubtedly our best combination at present.
Bench
Strong, the obvious lack of cover being openside.

Interesting to see Ollie Smith on the bench, I thought the Saxons had ruled him out because of injury.
Make of this what you can (maybe Tigers playing the 'game' to get a few players back from England duty?)

Yes, Ollie's availability and the non-selection of Julian would be the main 'off the park' discussion points.adamv6 wrote:Interesting to see Ollie Smith on the bench, I thought the Saxons had ruled him out because of injury.

Loving the pack. Ayerza, Kasyer and Castro are the future for Tigers' front row. The more we play them together the better they'll get as a unit.
Has Croft picked up an injury or did the others just get the nod over him for this match? Was very impressed with Croft and Herring last week; Brett Deacon too actually.
Not to be negative but I can't wait for Harry to be back to match fitness. Murphy has done a good job, but the big games need the likes of Ellis.
Looking forward to seeing Mauger and Rabeni as a team. On paper it has the potential to be a great combination of generalship, power and swift ball. Let's hope it proves to be just that!
Geordan should be starting above Dempsey every time for Ireland - I hope he has a cracking game to nail down the shirt for the Italy match.
