WC Final Referee.

Post by Bill W »

I thought I would start this early.

He will, of course, totally misread the scrums and the breakdown and give questionable decisions at the line out.

His off side line will be less straight than my dogs hind legs.

And of course he will miss at least three blatant forward passes - not to mention scrum feeds and not straights at the line out.

But apart from that he will have a good game.

Bill,

I think Alan Rolland is a good choice for the final and fully deserves it.

Alan Lewis must also have been in the reckoning.

Reckon Chris White will get the 3/4 place play off match

Comments stand however!

I think that Joel Judge will have something to do in the Final.

Perhaps the 4th Official - responsible for managing the benches and substitutions

I have a lot of time for Joel Judge

There is a post about somewhere, i think its the one about Wayne Barnes, that lists all the refs for the matches. I think Paul Honiss is doing the 3rd/4th playoff.

Bill I don' think there is anything i can add to your prediction of next Saturdays performance by Alain Roland. It seems like all the other games he refs. Still its a bit early to be slating the ref 5/6 days before the game. (Its too late to work it out) :smt015

I think it is a good idea to critise the ref before the game as it clearly shows we are not influenced by what he does on the pitch.

Winning or losing we are making the same comments!

BTW Joel Judge best ref IMO - far better than Kaplan last night!

Certainly better than Spreaders!

It didn't matter in the end, but the Contepomi 'try' Spreadbury gave wasn't. Two out of 3 video shots clearly showed the player losing control before grounding.

Was Spreaders trying to make a game of it?!

I felt that it was a try as Contemponi got downward pressure and did not lose it forward until after it had been touched down.

it was a very strange one cos from the side it looked as if he had definitely lost it forward with no downward pressure but from in front, he clearly got pressure before it bounced forward. :smt023

Is there an Irish Mafia invovled here Lewis got the HC Final and Rolland the RWC Final, could understand Rolland if the French were in it, but Joel Jutge should be doing the final as the best ref IMO Lyndon Bray of NZ was only a TJ this RWC, but they let Barnes and Jonker(The only ref worse than Maybank) be refs.

The chairman of the IRB is Irish isn't he?

Bernard Lapasset has been elected to be the next IRB Chairman.

Northern Hemisphere rules - OK?
