Sight and cite

Post by Bill W »

I have been desparately waiting for Pam (la nit picker extraordinaire - hiya Pam!) to raise this but she is clearly to shy (doesn't sound like Pam), or polite (that's better) to do so.

Sight is as in vision - long sighted (hypermetropia); short sighted (myopia); hindsight (looking backwards); foresight (looking forwards). From the old English sihth

When players are referred to panels for possible offences they are cited. That is named. As in citation. From the latin citare - to summon

Glad I have got that off my chest!!! Some of you will go to bed tonight a little less ignorant than you were this morning!!

I'm sure that you were really 'desperately' (not desparately) waiting for Pam and that she may be too (not to) shy or polite to raise the sighting/citing issue.

Now we're even less ignorant!!!

What about "site"? :smt036

I suppose we all know the gist of what people are saying, even if there are typos or spelling mistakes. It does irritate some people,(including me, a little) but others couldn't care less. It's not a huge deal anyway, we all make mistakes in some way sometime, it's only human. :smt001

Not sure what this thread is really about, but I have been collecting some "pearlers" from the Internet of poor spelling etc. for a while now.

This is the collection so far.

I was tickled recently when I saw a sign in a clothing shop:

"If you can't find the size you want please ask for assistants".

I'm not completely worthless, I can be used as a bad example.

But the respect and deference was distinctly implied by the tone of the posting!
