Deadwood

Post by Tiger31875 »

surely if we got rid of the dead wood in this club i.e Goode, G Murphy, White, Kay etc, we would be an unstoppable force in the GP. Anyone else agree?

No. Disagree totally, there are many clubs who would gladly have such "dead wood" available to them.

What a ridiculous statement.

Ben Kay had his best seasone sinve the last worls cup & play his heart out every week.

Julian White still manages to destroy othere props; he had one off game off which just happened to be the H/Cup final.

Goodey lacked consistancy but was hailed as a hero the season before!

Geordan Murphy is still Geordan Murphy.

Not quite sure which games you watched to state they are dead wood!!
Come on Tigers!!!

I notice that this "New Member" comes from Daventry which is quite near Northampton, so maybe he is trying to wind us up.

But to consider each in turn : Goode is not only inconsistent but I still don't think he runs a three quarter line very well, but we need his goalkicking!

I thought Kay had a excellent season last season, I don't think he's the player he was and I don't think he's international class any more but he's a key part of the Tigers team.

To a lesser extent the same applies to Geordan in that I think he is still an international class player albeit he's not quite the player he was. But still a key player for us.

We know what we get from Julian White, so he's not great in the loose (though if you want to slow a game down give him the ball and he'll take it into contact and not turn it over) and can have the odd bad game but in most games he's probably the best scrummager in England.

Of course you can.

However, to propose that the players listed are 'dead wood' is absurd. Sorry, but there it is. Although the Andy Goode debate is a fair (albeit very old) one.

As a supporter, would you mind telling me who you would play in their place?

well surely we can find a better no.10 somewhere, as for white and kay, they are clearly past there best ad we should look to the academy for thier replacements and i think its time that we started with Alex T and varndell on the wings rather than G Murphy.

So your "deadwood" includes 2 players likely to go to the RWC with their countries (Kay & Murphy), one who could easily have been selected had he not withdrawn himself (White) and our top points scorer (Goode)?

As others have said, I think most Premiership sides would kill for "deadwood" like that!!!!!!

I thought this thread was going to be about Ian McShane.

Or Doris Day.

Oh, the Deadwood Stage is a-rollin' on over the plains
With the curtains flappin' and the driver slappin'the reins
A beautiful sky, a wonderful day
White Goode and Kay, White Goode and Kay, White Goode and Kay...

I'm torn. On the one hand I think you're a WUM. On the other hand you may just be an enthusiastic and radical new poster. In which case I wouldn't want to be unwelcoming.

Do you mind me asking which one you are?
