Almost too painful to contemplate, I'm afraid. I shall be watching behind my hands.

As an aside, Terry Burwell of the RFU (an ex-Tiger as well, for those that remember him) told me that he was quite confident of an upset in the first test. He reckoned SA were there for the taking.

I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry.

Pick a number between 50-150 for SA and between 3-10 for England.

OK we're going to get hammered again, but I truly believe that the World Cup group game will be a different story, once the big guns return to white colours.

Maybe it's an England plan to appear weaker than real before RWC 07, leaving home Tigers and Wasps players, and testing others, but it's a bit suicidal in terms of prestige. Howewer, i would call Tigers and Wasps players having 10 players sick, to save the honour in 2nd TM.

What a ridiculous comment. Why would you ever wish a serious injury on world class player? You'd go mental if anyone wished that on, say, Corry. Pathetic.

As soon as players started going down sick and injured, someone should've been on Expedia ordering 10-12 tickets to South Africa, with extra leg room. Some have been called into the Saxons, but none into the full party? Priorites? Only a few required to boost under par areas.

FRUM, wouldn't that have negated what Ashton says is the point of this tour ? i.e. to see how the 2nd/3rd tier act under international pressure.

Of course, one might say that Ashton is saying what he has to say, at least in public. I'm not sure whether he believes it or not. However having said it he can hardly whistle up the cavalry.
