Post by smithmas »

It was against the welsh teams I got thinking - do the Tigers need a song that the fans can chant to spur them on ...... Comments please, what would you choose??

Welcome to the forum smithmas, but this is the oldest and most boring chestnut. It usually come round once a year like yoyos and conkers, but I've lost count of how many threads have started and died in the last month alone - hence unohoo's "Here we go again".

Basically someone starts a thread as you have or with a suggestion. Then there are numerous alternative suggestions put forward, most are re-worded versions of popular songs. After a while someone decides that we should print off some song sheets and get the club involved. (Last time they did it was an embarassing disaster) And then it peters out. This can go on for several pages.

Sorry to put a damper on what you saw as a good idea, but to quote Blue Peter 'Here's one we made earlier":

i have been involved in one of these threads before and yeah its true
there was no realy desision made but the problem is telling the fans that aren't on the forum
it would be possible at welford to hand out flyers etc but somewhere like twickers would be a nightmare
perhaps something for the beginning of next season???

I have many favourite songs.

There are only two that I have heard Tigers sing with aplomb and gusto.

Walzing Matilda (particularly at Parc du Prince)

And "Are you watching Stuart Barnes" at Welford Road!!!!
