I see on the ERC website that Brennan has had his hearing delayed again, until the end of the month - personally think this is becoming a farce and it should've been dealt with by now - thoughts?
Never move faster than your guardian angel can fly...
He may yet have ample time on his hands in chokey. Compare and contrast with Eric Cantona, who fetched up with community service on appeal after being sentenced to imprisonment at first instance for a rather less serious assault. I think he's only postponing the inevitable, probably in the hope either that the evidence will go stale or that he will reach his retirement in any event and won't have the stigma of "career-ending" or "lifetime" ban.
Why is this man getting any sympathy, his body is a weapon, he's not the first and he won't be the last man to have a crowd turn against him and what he did was a very dark day for rugby indeed, 12 month ban not enough IMHO
Not sure it really matters. Brennan is due to retire fom Toulouse in June anyway, and was lightly thinking of joining a smaller town club in the region, just to keep him with more activities than the pub.
He'll be given a worthless ban, and who cares, 12 months or 12 years? Brennan is finished anyway.
Whatever anybody thinks of the The Barnhall Bruiser, you have to acknowledge that this is a most apt way for him to end his career (oddly). Finishing his playing days as a smiling, reformed Top 14 championship winner would take away from the myth and legend that is Trev Brennan.
I really hope he doesnt get a life ban!!! If the crowd where giving him stick, surely they got the message when he pounced on that bloke. Yes its bound to look worse because hes a stronger, bigger bloke. But punch ups happen all the time in rugby matches, at all levels.
Im not saying hes innocent, yes he did go into the crowd and bludgen that bloke good and proper. But i just dont agree with the 'darkest hour' in rugby and all that.....
Does "innocent until proven guilty" not extend to fans then, ET? You seem very keen to conclude that the real wrongdoers were in the stands - on what evidence?
