Pat answers the "Resting Players" Question.

Post by Simmo »

BBC News are reporting that:

"Guinness Premiership leaders Leicester are set to make 15 changes from the side that crushed Bristol for the game against London Irish on Boxing Day."

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_u ... 206165.stm

That suggests to me we too played very much a second fiddle team (that were by the way fantastic!).

Why is the media justifying Bristols "crushing defeat at Welford Road" as a result of Richard Hill resting a few players, although I must admit Roy Winters might have made Leo's job a bit harder in the Lineout.

Why won't Barnsey & Co admit that we were building up to give someone a good thumping (and who better than the league leaders in the first game of the Christmas period?).

WHY? Because they are Leicester Tigers and everyone hates them.

We didn't play a second string team, and we won't on boxing day.

We played a mix of youth and experience, and there will be a different mix of youth and experience on tuesday.

Definitely a positive post Lea. Well happy here with Friday's performance considering the number of players WE rested.

If pushed to pick a worst player on Friday night it would probably be Matt Cornwell, mainly due to his sin binning. Even then the Ref should have dealt with the pulling and holding going on around the scrum on their 5m line that caused the fracas.

Merry Christmas.

PS: Did anyone keep count on how many times Julian White went to the blood bin? A true warrior.

Do you think Morris/Barnes will criticize Tigers for being disrespectful to Irish by putting out a "second team"!!!

I believe Julian went off for repairs about five times. Poor old Castro didn't know whether to come or go - at one point he came off, turned round, grinned at the other players in the dugout and pretended to go straight back on again!

Great point...speaks volumes of our depth. Our strength in numbers will carry us far. I believe another post referred to us as a club version of the All Blacks, with so many capable players to cover during congested periods.
