From the commentary, that sounded like one of the best performances of the season to me - the team really seemed to have the upper hand for most of the game rather than good and bad periods. Even when Wasps looked threatening or scored our heads didn't drop, we didn't panic - we just came back at them from where we had left off.
The England internationals will not be in the best frame of mind when they come back confidence wise and will now need to re-earn their places in the team. No doubt we will want to strengthen the front row which is probably right but some of the so called stand-ins today were excellent - Cullen, Crane, Murphy, Abraham, and Humphries to name but a few.
Re Humphries, his breaks through the gain line are so refreshing and also 5 out of 5 goal kicks. At credit to Pat's tactics as explained by Ollie Smith which were to put Sam Vesty at Fly half for defensive set peices so as not to expose Humphries defence.
Over all, very very encouraging.

Don't forget Gate, our beloved East-Midlands rivals Northampton were walloped 40-5 by Irish - the day gets increasingly sponditious!Gate wrote:Lovely, lovely, lovely. And Wuss beat Sarries too. What a sponditious day's rugby.
As for the debate about Dayglo coming back the England coach (whoever it will be) should give Dan Ward-Smith a crack at number 8 - if they drop Cozza that is.

Fantastic !!! All credit to Pat Howard....good comment from Tweentown, picking up that PH put Vesty at fly-half for defensive situations and put Humphreys in for the attacking options......good call. I agree with Pat, why bring the England players back, who are off form, disconsolate and probably very tired. Give them a breather until the Heinken Cup games and especially the Bristol game which is now crucial.
