Why do we get the team announced on ScrumV etc before here?!

Post by simon redshaw »

How is that we seem to find out the team on sites like ScrumV and the BBC sports website before it is even announced on here?!!

Supposedly the team has been announced with as usual more then the odd selection which will cause debate such as Tom being left out, also Sam etc.

Yet nothing announced here!!  I would much rather it was the other way round!!

Couldn't agree more Simon. I've often wondered this myself.

Surely the Tigers website should be the place we rely on for all the latest news - not the BBC!

Maybe because the club don't release it until it's confirmed?

Would you rather have early information or accurate information?

hear hear guys, i tend to look 3/4 times per day (from work but ssshhhh), towards the middle/end of week i look with anticipation for team selection but alas it is getting later and later, i accept injuries delay selection but to find 2nd/3rd hand is to say the least very disappointing.

I would rather have accurate information or information that is confirmed so would rather the team information was not announced on these other sites before we see it here.

Makes you wonder who is leaking this team information to the other sites?!!

If anyone. They could be making an educated guess, from the known injuries.

They gave this team out on the rugby hour on Radio Leicester last night as well so I don't know why there's been a delay from the club.

I've not been to many games where there hasn't been a change in the named team somewhere - the names you get in the programme are never totally accurate.

So the club should just tell us the names of 22 players, even if they are totally different to those who actually play?

Unohoo,

You're right - the club should wait until a few moments before kick-off before revealing their side. After all, sometimes a player will have to drop out after picking up an injury during the warm-up (Moreno).

The club know who is in the side and the players know. Any changes will be due to unforseen circumstances and so they might as well name the side.

Though, to the first poster, the reason Tom (Varndell?) is not in the side is because pretty much every GP team is resting players who have been called up for the England training camps. So probably no White, Chuter, Deacon, Kay, Moody, Corry, Ellis or Goode as they are in the Elite Squad, and Varndell is in the Senior Academy. I think the 7s players will be picked, though, as Glaws seem to have named theirs.

Rubbish. They should announce the team on the day before the match, when it is sent to the printer for the program.

The Club (via the communications dept) announce the team listings on this site when AND ONLY WHEN they have the official team list from the Coaches. The team/squad listings posted on ScrumV and BBC - or indeed anywhere else - are NOT official releases, therefore they cannot be relied upon.

Anything that is official will be (and is) announced on this website as soon as the official go-ahead has been given. If you rely on information posted elsewhere or obtained via internet search, you will have unofficial, unconfirmed and probably incorrect information.

I'm sorry if this sounds stern, but the Club communications dept do a good job, and they can only post or announce something on here when they have official confirmation and are told they can do so. Please give them a break.

I shall also make a sticky about unofficial information for a day or two so hopefully everyone can see it and understand.

Jan I am not meaning to have a go at the club communications dept. I know they do a good job and can only post the information when they are given it.

What I was trying to say is that information should be given out to them much earlier or should not be on other websites before ours as It can be upsetting to some like myself and as you say that information on the other sites isn't always correct.

I apologise if it looked as if I was having a go at the club communication Dept.

I take it then from your post Rizzo that everythings official then? or maybe it's unofficial.

Or then again it could be unofficially official.
