Tigers 27-27 Gloucester - Your View

Post by Iain »

Just back from the game, a draw was probably a fair result. Really should have gone on to win after getting ourselves in front. Key thing was Gloucester's defence: up very quick and disrupted us well.
We never seemed to use the width, but then neither did Gloucester. I think both teams seemed to cancel each other out. A 27-27 draw should have been far more exciting than it was. Lots of niggle and offending in the tight.

For Tigers good performers in particular for me were Goode, who looked far more assured with the ball in hand; Vesty, who was always a threat from full back; Rabeni, great eye for the gap.

Disappointing, but could have been much worse.

Well said. Rabeni and Goode played very well throughout the match. Draw seemed a slight shame as we were 24 - 14 up at one point.

Ironic how one of the better players ( Rambeni) was taken off. How can a draw be a fair result when we were leading 24-14. In the past Tigers would have gone on and thrashed a team when they were so far ahead now they are not able to keep the lead something wrong here methinks.

And also the irony is that Bath got a thrashing this week.

g, Rabeni got injured in scoring the try and limped off. I guess you weren't at the game?

How did george chuter get man of the match all the players were equally poor. No one had that extra something to get through the gaps or create overlaps. From 10 points down we should have gone on to thrash them.

A bad result.

No creativity in the backs - poor defence - bad goal kicking.

About as bad a day at the office as you can get. Tigers? Nah.

To be positive... I thought Jordan Crane had an excellent debut - good running, carrying, stealing and solid defence. Our defence was mostly strong but lapses of concentration gave away points. Also a promising centre combinatation in Hipkiss and Cornwell - I can see a lot more sparkle in the backs once they get more first team time and a chance to swap with Smith and Gibson.

Leicester had a number of opportunities to close this game out after leading 24 -14 at one stage but had to settle for a 27 - 27 scoreline and a share of the points. Rabeni another good game and a well taken try.

Not to win when you are ten points clear we were dire. Gloucesters backs were looking much sharper quicker and more inventive. Our backs were the usual solid but no real flare from 10,12,13 to open gaps. Once Rambini went off injured we had no forward momentum other than kicks.

The forwards did not play as a team they lack passion and leadership. Individually Crane had a good game on debut, Moody showed commitmet for the 20 odd mins he played but they failed to gain the edge they have to for us to win games.

And still teh problem of penalties given away when will they learn!

Very depresing performance at home. Whats going to happen during te internationals? Mind on that showing not many will make the squads.

Thank God you guys aren't coachs - you are so negative the players would quit, retire ot slit their wrists. It's a game for goodness sake!!! Help the young lads develop and give POSITIVE criticism for the older palyers to bring them on. Every one learns through mistakes - don't be too quick to criticise - get behind the club.

Concern regarding the penalty count. Can't agree about the Gloucester backs being more inventive, Richards might have been but they had to resort to drop goals in the first half. Vesty and Murphy looked sharp, but the final touch tended to go forward. As for Corry at 6, and Chuter man of the match, having knocked on after Murphy's glorious take, and given a silly penalty away at the end. Man of the match needs to be decided after the final whistle. Bemand had another sound match. Might not have been the tackle of the match, but there is now a quote that goes "Try saving tackle from Tom Varndell!" Pity TV had drifted to the other wing at one point. Burke did not have the best debut at WR! The game was there to win.

Lacklustre....compare Corry vs Sale to Corry v Glaws and the differene is like a very large chasm !!! The only positive is that the home record is still in tact and that we didn't lose. Should have buried them and it was disappointing to see the team switch off for the tries.....4 or 5 simple phases and they were over with not so much as a whimper from us - onwards and hopefully upwards ! As the WR announcement goes...."Bing bong.....could do better !!"

To be honest, I'm disappointed, like others have said to be 24-14 up and not go on to win at home is frustrating.

Agree that Rabeni was generally good but did anyone else see the hospital pass to Murphy in the second half (just before their try)?

Who decides Man of the match?

And having been a supoporter of Tony Spreadbury in the last week, I felt he let a lot of high tackles go.

As a side note I liked the way when Glaws were coming off after the warm up and their fans started cheering, the music was turned up and when Tigers were coming off after their warm up the music was turned down. Alright, it might not be sporting but it was good.
