Harry and Tommy V added to Sevens squad.

Post by Iain »

Looks to me to be the strongest Sevens side we've put out in many a year now. Add these to Seru and Henry and we've got a very quick, technical and skillful side mixed with some real Sevens experience. Having made a last minute decision to head down there I'm now looking forward to what is usually one of the most fun days out in the rugby calendar.

Here's hoping to a nice bit of success as a curtain raiser to the season ahead!

Shame about Hipkiss though. I feel that we probably have the strongest squad going

Are we in danger of taking this seriously?

Looks like it Bill!

It certainly seems as though the game of Sevens is enjoying something of a renaissance of late. The Commonwealth Games and the IRB series has seen to that, spawning players such as Varndell and Tait who essentially made their name in Sevens. Clubs I feel are seeing the merit in it as a good skills exercise. Plus with the strong depth we have to our First XV squad this year we can afford to put some bigger names in the Sevens squad.

I applaud that Iain. Once again Clubs think better than RFU?

That has to be one of the best 7's sides I have seen Tigers ever put out. If no injuries come out of it great it could be a good show.

Doubtful we'll "walk it". Tom might be playing for us but Armor, Tait, Noon and Lewsey are also playing.

Looking at the squads I'd be disappointed if we didn't make semi final/final

So it's 3 forwards and 4 backs? If so I'd go for:

1.Croft
2.Hickie
3.Deacon / Tuilagi
4.Bemand (c)
5.Humphries
6.Rabeni
7.Varndell

I reckon Newcastle will be the favourites. The Tigers have a good selection and will make the semis but I don't really see them winning tho'. Just hope I am wrong.

I just hope Seru gets through this injury free and that he has a blinder. Its about time he managed to last a full game without getting injured.
