No I don't have kids, was just speaking in general really. Though my friends son would be keen to come along (he is 12), but I've always been reluctant to offer him a spare season ticket when they are available as we can't get there early enough for him to see.

at Glaws kids can go in front of the barriers. They go and get autographs from players sitting in the bench and have stewards watching out for them whilst seeing a great game (when Glaws win :P )

Iain, I've taken kids of that age on to the terrace many times and they make their way to the front while I hang back a bit (but where I can still see them).

Most people don't mind letting kids through to the front whether you're there 2 hours before kick off or 10 minutes - we're a friendly bunch gnerally!!

I agree that standing up is slightly inconsiderate, although didn't appreciate that the one time i did stand up in excitement the bloke behind me yanked the back of my shirt and pulled me back into my seat. Not necessary.
