Mauger won us that trophy iirc and then was unceremoniously binned the day after

Not a criticism Old Hob, if we’re in the same place I would be disappointed if we didn’t do similar

& the board searched the entire Rugby Playing Community for his replacement.....

Wasn't Geordie in charge of the PRC team that season?

That's what I thought. He was on the pitch at the Stoop afterwards. Mauger wasn't, I don't think.

It was also the time of those hideous hurt-your-eyes yellow shirts.

Pretty sure it was known Mauger was doomed & the camera cut to him in the stand or a box.

I have memories of a trophy being won with Mauger there but it was a The Gardens. Mists of time and all that.

Sure I can remember Kitchener and a couple of others smiling on the pitch with Mauger after. I commented at the time that the players look happy for once. Perhaps I’m wrong then

Yes,maybe it was the FG win I'm thinking about. I remember social media blowing up at the time and players were not happy with Maugers treatment.

Yes. I think all of those players by that point appeared in the Heineken Cup apart from White perhaps. The previous December Jack Roberts had lined up against Jaco Taute v Munster (James Cronin was on the bench)!

The policy then as now was that the assistant coaches took charge of the Premier Cup teams whilst the Head Coaches took a step back, then Mauger stepped back for Geordie to take charge recently Borthwick hands over to Brett Deacon, the competition develops coaches as well as players.

18-16 up at the break could go either way. Finn Smith looks impressive
