Re: Montpellier’s Form - Challenge Cup Final chat
I'd be tempted to go with Brink, with the size of their pack.

Re: Montpellier’s Form - Challenge Cup Final chat
Against a massive pack I think we’ll need Reffell. Granted he needs to work on his physicality but his breakdown work and turnovers will be crucial.

Not very often I agree completely with the selections I see on here, but this is the team I’d prefer to see (subject to fitness).RagingBull wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 6:28 pm My team for the final

He's not got the ball in hand game but he makes a lot of tackles and is a menace over the ball. The side looks better when he's in it.Leicestertinytiger wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 6:51 pm Against a massive pack I think we’ll need Reffell. That's what I'd go for too. If Montoya is fit I'd have him at 16 as he's such a big impact player and Clare didn't have his best game today. That said he's not played any rugby recently so I can see Clare getting the 16 jersey. I've been very impressed by Kelly this season bu Scott played exceptionally well today and Moroni is nailed on at 13 so would go for the same centre pairing. Think Henry is likely to get the spot on the bench based on his inclusion today over JMcP. Think this is pretty much spot on injuries permittingRagingBull wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 6:28 pm My team for the final

I agree with most of this. The jury is out on Scott v Kelly and I think we should have a back 3 player at 23. Muri can cover injury at centre/full back but I don’t know what Potter offers at wing.RagingBull wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 6:28 pm My team for the final

Re: Montpellier’s Form - Challenge Cup Final chat
Personally, I like having a balance of pace and power on the wings regardless of opposition (and Vattez is rapid for Montpellier if he is fit), so I would have Nadolo and Potter as wings if fit with Murimurivalu in 23 shirt. He offers so much of a threat to come on between 50 and 60mins and covers a range of positions - plus allows Nemani to empty the tank against his former club with another fresh power and skills player to come on.
I see the thinking for a big back row, but agree with others Reffell played so well today and we do seem to have a better attacking structure and quick ball having a genuine 7 in the team. Plus, having Brink to come on in the last 25mins or so adds some power and tackling when needed.
My 23 (if all fit) would be:
Steward
Potter
Moroni
Scott
Nadolo
Ford
Youngs
Wiese
Reffell
Liebenberg
Green
Wells
Cole
Youngs
Genge
Montoya (Clare if Julian isn't fully fit)
de Bruin
Heyes
Martin
Brink
JvP
Henry
Murimurivalu
Very harsh on Kelly, Henderson McPhillips and Porter who imo, have all played really well in this competition - but all 4 of those will have their times in the team in final runs in the future I am sure.
Looking forwards to being in the stands for this one! COYT!!

Re: Montpellier’s Form - Challenge Cup Final chat
I would be very surprised to see Montoya named in the squad given his lack of match practice. It wouldn’t be my choice, but I’m guessing SB picks Wiggy over JVP on the bench.
Re: Montpellier’s Form - Challenge Cup Final chat
I'm not suggesting he should be selected but is Lavanini injured or has he just really fallen down the selection rankings.

Re: Montpellier’s Form - Challenge Cup Final chat
Like how Borthwick doesn’t say anything about injuries and who is available. If you are Saint-Andre you are thinking- who is fit?
Moroni? Montoya? Lavanini? Even Weise? (SB said there was no issues afterwards but you can’t be certain)
Then the strength in depth means he’s asking about Brink or Reffel? Lavanini or Green? Scott or Kelly? Van Wyk/Porter/Muri?
I know we have our preferences but it does make it a lot harder for the opposition to plan for the game.
