Re: Hands up....
This week I have had an escaped jack russel bounding about the garden like a thing possessed. Those :censored: can't half jump. And my regulars Mr and Mrs Pete, the pheasants. So seeing as how my garden is clearly not remotely critter proof I had better forego on the livestock. Also SOMETHING BIG is...

Re: Hands up....
I live opposite a tiny petrol station and the queue is busy, but not dreadful. I need to fill up a can for my lawnmower, but I just don't want the shame of the village thinking I am a panic buyer, so I am just letting the grass grow!

Re: Things that Annoy You
Bill! I am a tea-planter's daughter's daughter. You must warm the teapot before you put the tea in. And you put the milk in the bone china cups last. This way you can accurately judge the colour and balance. So disappointed, Bill

Re: Louis Moody announces immediate retirement
My absolute favourite recent player. Thanks for all the great games, and hope you and your family forgive rugby for knackering you. I am going to the Bath game on Friday and was hoping to see Lewis play (can we spell his name right on this thread, Sapajo :smt001 ) Oh well, I'd rather not see him if ...

Re: Things that Annoy You
Oh TT I love anoraks :smt003 I always like it when people have a passion - the only thing I don't like is when they say "another interesting thing" when the first interesting thing had you searching for something to hang yourself from. With you on the phone calls Kin, and even more annoyin...

Re: Any natural history boffins out there?
I always thought that scavengers were brighter than hunters. I love the idea of animals that just wait for someone else to do all that running about and struggling, and they just go and pick up the food at the end. Carrion birds follow wolves and will actually help them spot prey in order to get a m...

Re: More nature: Rabbits v Hares
Ha, just seen this. Hares had better win, Mr Flea. Little rabbity beggars nearly drove me to distraction with their oh so cute floppy ears and nibbling vegetable habits. But then I moved, and in my new gaffe, I have rabbit-proofing by way of a large roaming dog and a main road. My vegetables are saf...

Bird watch
I know some of you are twitchers so don't forget it's Bird Watch weekend. http://www.rspb.org.uk/birdwatch/takepart.aspx Mine was a bit disappointing, wren flatly refused to show up and he is always in the garden, not a single starling or thrush, and nothing very interesting. Load of dunnocks :smt002

Re: Why are some people so thick?
There are a couple of members of my household who seem to think that putting things NEAR a bin is as much effort as is needed. This was probably just one of them on a day out Beej. I blame the mother/wife

Re: Any natural history boffins out there?
I would love to see a barn owl. They are nocturnal mainly because they can be, I have read. They have special huge eyes that are so big they are actually stuck in their sockets. That's why they have to be able to move their heads almost all the way round. And they have rods in their eyes rather than...
