It looks like Edinburgh have done us a bit of a favour here. My brain starts to hurt when i try to work out the implications of this though, does it really make much difference for us?

The problem is the captain has to be a player who would be an automatic selection anyway, and i don't see too many of them at the moment for England.

I think the more likely reason is that they don't want to put more pressure on recovering players. I'm no expert but i expect injury recovery times are hard to predict. It's not an exact science so there's no point speculating about when they'll be fit until the player passes that final fitness test.

Youngs looks like he might be a good prospect but it's impossible to say anything more than that at the moment. He did not have a great game and should definitely not be startig next Sunday. And whowever it was who touted him as "a future england prospect" is getting way ahead of themselve...
