Re: Autumn Nations Cup

Mamukashvili starting at hooker at least! Would imagine he will give Genge some advice in the front rows... Georgia Backs: 15. Lasha Khmaladze (83 caps, 53 points), 14. Akaki Tabutsadze (3 caps, 30 points), 13. Giorgi Kveseladze (25 caps, 20 points), 12. Merab Sharikadze (67 caps, 60 points, captai...

Re: Autumn Nations Cup

More anti rugby than tactics, truly dreadful approach to a game! Anti rugby.........maybe but they played in the rules and rattled England so stopped England from playing an open flowing game. Still comfortably beaten though so in all it was a complete waste of time. Added to a dreadful spectacle to...

Re: Club Statement - COVID-19

What about this? “ The CMA has fined pharma companies Pfizer and Flynn Pharma nearly £90 million for charging excessive prices to the NHS for an anti-epilepsy drug.” In that case the CMA should fine pretty much all suppliers of the NHS. They pay ten times what I do for some basic off the shelf item...

Re: RFU Cancels all League's below Championship

I think it's a bit early to call this with talk of vaccines rolling out early in the new year (fingers crossed). A full season may not be practicable but surely if a season can get started not too late in 2021 the powers that be could easily subdivide each division into two and play two full 'mini l...

Do you mean that you would prefer it if the player receiving the ball received it behind the point at which the ball was released by the passing player?

Re: Offside at a kick off

While I have much sympathy with those that feel a pass that is not definitively backwards relative to the point on the ground from which the pass was made, I quite like a game where if a player passes to me and I am not in front of him when he passes, not in front of him when I receive the ball and ...

Re: Ellis Genge comments on 'Outdated Playing Contracts'

I'm sure, as h's dad says, existing contracts can be varied (time off to visit family abroad or whatever) but a strength of the current system is everyone is on the same basic contract and everyone else knows it. I am sure this makes for a quieter, less stressed dressing room with less room for jea...

Tiglon wrote: Mon Oct 19, 2020 2:39 pm So are all professional rugby player contracts all using exactly the same template, across all clubs?
I'm sure they are not obliged to and I expect most if not all clubs will have their own standard variations as a starting point, but the basic template is agreed by PRL, RPA & RFU.

Re: Ellis Genge comments on 'Outdated Playing Contracts'

An interesting insight. It wouldn't be that expensive to have a prototype contract draw up for discussion. I don't think he's asking for a new template. He wants tailored contracts for different players which does become a lot more expensive. Genge makes the comparison with soccer but star players ...

Re: Positives going forward

I get a bit fed up with this singling out of kicking the ball away as a bad thing in and of itself. If used in combination with a good kick chase, it can be very effective, just go back a few years to the start of Saracens under Venter and McCall. It's still part of their standard system. It's a bi...

Re: Positives going forward

The fixtures either side of those were the win against Saints and the absolute demolition of us at Ashton Gate. I'm not convinced that having the firsts, who did not beat a depleted Harlequins, would have changed that much. Are you saying that it would make no difference if match day players were p...

Did I miss it? Re: Rugby And all sports’ fans matter!

Nearly 40% of transmission is driven by schools That's very much at odds with what I've seen from sage, with the top two areas being hospitality (bars and restaurants) and shopping environments. Schools are a long way down the list. Although, in my opinion and experience, the place to really avoid ...

Thanks, but I don't see how that ties in to your statement in any way.
