Re: Simon Cohen leaves with immediate effect
Interesting analysis: “ BBC Radio Leicester's Tigers commentator Chris Egerton This is potentially the most significant sign of change at Welford Road this summer. While his period as chief executive preceded the club's last Premiership title in 2013, Cohen's experience in salary cap management and ...

He doesn’t always come across as the brightest pin in the box.
His suggestion that the number of Premiership games should be halved, without thinking through the consequences, is one more example.
More a rusty nail?

Actually, a full description of the birds activities, which is kept up to date. Definitely one for the ornithologists.
Great thread, thanks for posting it.

Re: Rugby’s journeymen
Mol2, you describe a game that existed before TV money and professional players. Clubs are now commercial enterprises with multimillion pound turnovers, (and mostly losses!). Anyone who has had to downsize a business knows how difficult it is, and how disastrous it can be for those who suddenly have...

“Now or Never for Game to Reboot”
From today’s Guardian There is a line in The Plague, the novel by Albert Camus now enjoying a revival, that still chimes. “Officialdom can never cope with something really catastrophic: what they are short of is imagination.” As sport plots the slow route back to action, initially behind closed door...

Re: Rugby’s journeymen
Full article: If the penny is not already dropping for the majority of English rugby’s professional rugby players it soon will. When the sport does finally resume there will be tighter budgets, fewer alternative boltholes for those out of contract and, in the worst-case scenario, a rise in insolvent...

Oh good, another body with a finger in the pie.
Who will fund it? Why would they want to, what would they want out of it, and what control would they want?
There is no such thing as money for nothing!

Re: Bring rugby back to its touring roots - Stuart Barnes
Yes, but part of SBs beef has been that there should be less rugby, with greater recovery time for players. It works for tv viewers if the Premiership and Championship are televised as part of one deal, but maybe a Southern Hemisphere answer is possible?

Being shut away for a number of weeks seems to have done some good! SB with another interesting subject for debate on the future of the game.
