Re: We need to talk about Handré

That said, I'd happily go peak negativity if the thread was "We need to talk about the RFU/PRU" who in my opinion are the real villains of English Rugby, and have been for years. If you want to know why we lose against the like of Leinster and La Rochelle I'd suggest you'd get a richer ve...

Re: We need to talk about Handré

It's just a temporary form thing, same happens to most players, even us mere mortals have off-days/weeks when things don't go our way. Just need to cut him some slack, he'll come good!

Re: We need to talk about Handré

I have absolutely no grounds for this whatsoever, no rumour, no hearsay, nothing at all, not even a mate of my third cousin talking to a taxi driver who who had the player's uncle's mate in the cab, but there is just a thought nagging at the back of my mind that Handre may leave us at the end of th...

We're looking at small margins, unfortunately they become magnified when we know how close we came! I'm in the same camp as another poster who reminded us how good we were looking when Alan Dickens was with us, what continues to kill us is the upheaval in coaching staff.

Re: Other matches - 19th - 21st January 2024

Given Exeter are getting thumped, looks like the round of 16 will be: Toulouse v Racing 92 ® Leinster v Leicester ® Northampton v Munster ® Bordeaux Bègles v Saracens ® Harlequins v Glasgow Bulls v Lyon ® Stormers v La Rochelle ® Exeter v Bath All those marked ® are repeats of match ups in the grou...

Comments about Pollard remind me when a certain club legend ie: one G Murphy Esq, had a poor run of form some years ago. The hatchets were out for him at the time, gladly he proved them wrong!
As a previous poster said, form is temporary class is permanent!

Re: 2024 Six Nations Chat

Staggered that he hasn’t had a look at Barbeary or Mercer Mercer is playing in a poor team Barbeary likely to receive a longish ban for 2 reds in the same game Thought you couldn’t get a ban for 2 yellows but I’ll stand corrected. Surely playing well in a poor team will be ideal for England I read ...

Re: 2024 Six Nations Chat

Here's the French 6N squad just announced by Fabien Galthié. Grégory Alldritt will be captain for the first match against Ireland in Marseille on Friday February 2nd. Two pairs of club half backs have been picked, Lucu and Jalibert of Bordeaux/Bègles and Le Garrec and Gibert of Racing (if Gibert ce...

Fair point, be interesting to see how he pans out. Maybe a Henson/Cipriani hybrid? Maybe I'm being a bit unfair?

There could be a double ban incoming. That could affect a significant portion of the 6 Nations if he's banned for both separately.
Not surprised at that! He's a good player but is he clumsy?

Re: Tigers v La Rochelle (A) - Champions Cup - Sunday 14th January 2024 - KO - 3-15pm

Just a really insane thought but if there is not going to a be a parity of salary caps across Europe, you invite the clubs that cannot currently compete (Welsh Regions, the 2 Scottish clubs, the Premiership) maybe add a couple of clubs from the Championship, you make one big league of 18 or so club...

Re: Tigers v La Rochelle (A) - Champions Cup - Sunday 14th January 2024 - KO - 3-15pm

My earlier suggestion re the RFU injecting cash was meant as a way of both making clubs more competitive in Europe and also I would hope keeping clubs afloat. Surely it's in their wider interest to do so? I don't run with the Covid thing now, they have had long enough to get over that like most busi...

Re: Tigers v La Rochelle (A) - Champions Cup - Sunday 14th January 2024 - KO - 3-15pm

Be honest - we were beaten up, out muscled and lacking some big units. We have fit players with speed. The French have big units with a power game. Bout time we increased the salary cap to allow English clubs to complete on a level playing field. And sorry - my whinge - but since when has South Afr...

Re: Transfers & Rumours Non-Tigers 2022

I would have taken Farrell at Tigers before Pollard everyday of the week. Handré is a class act and 2 x World Cup medals puts you in the hall of fame, but I am a little concerned by his form. The errors seem to have crept in this season. He's never been a 'moment of magic' fly half, so any drop in ...
