Re: Welford Road Stadium

I dont thInk there is anything sacrosanct in the 60,000 figure here. According to the great oracle that is Wikipedia there are 37 existing (football) stadia larger than WR in England, (so for example excluding the Olympic stadium and that place with the lid in Cardiff but INCLUDING Madjeski (Grrrr)....

Re: Oh Manu

I've just seen the pictures of Manu kissing HRH on the head (said to be at the airport as they departed NZ). Personally, I'd fine him more for that than any of his other misdemeanors....

Re: Players returning to their clubs

A question (or two) for those who know... Are the EPS and the England World Cup Squad the same thing? In whose interest is it that a player with minimum or even zero game time should be rested after a championship? Sqad rotation makes sense but doesn't always happen as per TTE. Aren't there 'dispens...

We are driven by 1999 failure - Jonny Wilkinson

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_union/14998185.stm Ahh the fear of failure - I think that tells us all we need to know about why and how England play the way they do, when often it seems the sum of the whole is less than the sum of the parts. If England are to move on from doing 'just enough'...

Re: Waldrom to join England squad in NZ

Well maybe not at Prop, but are we saying we can be best in the world with a 29 man squad when all the rest have 30? We're not obliged to send like for like after all.

Kinda says to me, the rest really werent good enough....or we cant make a decision for toffee.

Re: Waldrom to join England squad in NZ

biffer wrote That's what I thought. Waldrom won't be allowed to train with the squad or be a part of any squad sessions or England will be breaking the rules. If he is officially called into the squad, then he has to wait 48 hours after that point before he can join in. Bizarre. There's also the rec...

Re: Exeter Chiefs

Agree with most of that, altho we could debate the place of heuristics in bounded chaos as a (predictive) 'model' for the world of rugby....

(and if behavioural science is ever successfully applied to the field of economics I for one would be delighted....!)

Re: Thoughts on England v Argentina...

I agree you need to go low but Lawes just led with his knee. If he was committing to the tackle he would of been low and leading with his shoulder And I reckon that's because he was actually pulling out of a tackle, albeit having already committed to going down. But heh, there's a decision I think ...

Re: Thoughts on England v Argentina...

Kingol22 Does look like he could of pulled out of it to me although i suppose its a matter of opinion. But what he is doing going for a challenge like that in the first place is also questionable. Try watching it at full speed! I agree the challenge isnt elegant, and could be described as putting hi...

Re: Thoughts on England v Argentina...

Kingol22 wrote He seems to notice that the tackle has been made and the player was already out of play before lawes committed to the challenge so I wouldnt be too surprised to see him banned. Are we watching the same clip? Lawes cant see along the line, and cant know Ledesma is in touch by the time ...
