Re: TMO question
The strangest incident was the disallowed Tigers try in the second half, the ref said he just saw two players running into each other with the TMO venement that it was foul play, Dickenson seemed to be unwilling to argue with the TMO and asked several times about what the TMO saw but he did not seem...

Re: 6 NATIONS 2021
Barnes is the best referee in the world, but I do disagree with some of his decisions yesterday evening. Even so, to call his actions "criminal", "disgusting", "biased" and "awful" is just outrageous. It's not Barnes who needs to have a look in the mirror, it...

Re: 6 NATIONS 2021
I have rarely seen such biased refereeing as from Barnes last night, he is a referee who I have the greatest respect for but his performance was shocking, consistently favouring the Scots, his refusal to check the first try was strange to say the least, his refusal to yellow card a Scot after 3 cons...

Re: Rebuilding England By The Pound
It is the rigidity of Jones that comes out in the way the team play, the French showed in the autumn that they have a block of 40 players that can rotate in or out of the team and they still play like France and can beat anyone with a fair wind (or ref) England by comparison have 13-14 players who a...

Re: South African Tigers
Take Wales for example international team with maybe a few world class players that other international teams would like in their 23 but no one who is gonna trouble a world 23. Then England who at their best are littered with world class players and have 2/3 who are in the World 23 conversation. Gi...

Re: South African Tigers
For me world class is a player who would walk into any team in the world, not just a player who has a few caps under his belt.
I respect Lavannini a lot but to suggest he is world class is stretching the definition a bit, world class penalty machine may be!

Re: South African Tigers
I am happy to fess up to being less than a fan of importing a raft of SA players, it is copying the Sale formula and the well trodden path of Saracens, neither of which I am happy for Tigers to try to emulate. For me it is a quick fix and an admission of planning failure, the reasons are valid and ...

Re: Has Rugby Got a Refereeing Problem?
Is the question being asked, are referees corrupt? I hope no one is seriously suggesting that this is the case, all referees have prejudices but we must give them the benefit of the doubt and credit for mostly keeping even handedness, they are there not to annoy us fans but to enable 30 guys/ girls ...

Re: Has Rugby Got a Refereeing Problem?
The TMO is causing as much confusion as anything, some TMO's do not seem to know the rules and some seem to be not watching the game at all. During the England game on both England tries the ref said they had to check something, he did not ask to check for anything in particular just wanted to check...

Re: Has Rugby Got a Refereeing Problem?
A big issue is that referees seem to gravitate upwards unimpeded by obvious incompetence, think of Steve Walsh and Andre Watson, Steve Lander, OK don't think too hard about any of these or you will feel ill. There seems to be no check on their inevitable upward progress no matter how many times they...

Re: 6 NATIONS 2021
EJ is a contrarian, that is all you need to know about his selection process, he does things differently because he likes to be different, anyone trying to make deeper sense of it is barking up the wrong tree, nothing in EJ's selections are based on logic, quite the contrary, the more it winds the r...

Re: Jumping to catch the ball
Leibenberg had no chance to avoid contact, he was chugging up the pitch, watching the ball, the winger leapt and came down on him from and angle, Leibenberg was not trying to catch the ball or tackle the winger, he was not even in the balls or the wingers expected landing zone, for me the jumper is ...

Re: Sort the tackle area out, please!
The very term "clear out" is an anathema to the laws of rugby and should not be tolerated let alone accommodated by law interpretations that make the situation even more dangerous.
