Re: Tigers v Bristol - 27th April 2019

Reading between the lines it sounds like the back 5 will be Spencer Kitchener Williams Thompson Kalamafoni Fitzgerald and BoC on bench. This would be disappointing I think, as it's a good opportunity to play BOC and Guy together (with either Kalamafoni or Fitzgerald). They're both hard working 7.5s...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 6

I would say Whitcombe, Martin, Eveleigh, Costelow, Browning, Steward are 100% Gilliland, Law, JVP, are very likely. Law and JVP mightbe pushing to have both of them Ashworth has a good shout if not for the fact we have one of the standout players in the academy league coming up in that position IMO...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 6

Ahh. Didn’t know that. Still, looks like he’s got a decent crop to work with. Do we know when to expect development > senior promotions to be announced? Lewis, Reffell, White, Simmons, Hardwick and Olowofela have already re-signed. Given their age and several already getting significant First XV ga...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 6

Looks a decent list, although I’d question the need for 4 new centres, Taute, Reid, Viljoen and Forsyth (admittedly Forsyth is allegedly dual registered). I think switch one centre for a full back, because we’re an explosive outside back short, maybe Blommetjies is on unofficial trial rather than l...

Re: Development v Saints

Well, C.B. has done himself a great deal of good today. He may well be staying with us now. Put him in the next Premiership game, methinks. Olowofela’s been playing a lot of rugby this season, so I wonder if we’ll see a back three of May and Blommetjies, with Veainu at 15 (if considered fit enough)...

Re: Tigers v Saints

Yes Spencer definitely over 120kg as per premiership rugby website, wikipedia, etc Just look at him, he's massive. I'd be tempted to pick our best team and not worry about internationals being tired too much. The 6N has two rest periods in, and we've got another rest week after the Saints game, so i...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 6

People keep including George Martin in their list of possible Premiership locks, the lad I believe will one day make the grade but currently is way too young and is probably at least a couple of years away from being in contention. He will be in the development squad next season so I included him o...

Re: Tigers v Saints

All of those fit are much lighter, they have 2 weeks to work on Williams at 8, we keep saying we need a big brute of an 8, Williams is the only one who could realistically be classed as a big brute. (other than Fred) So i don't think it would be too long a shot. As much as a hefty option at 8 would...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 6

We need 3 enforcer locks to go with Spencer. I'd settle for one lock that's better than all our current ones. Yes agreed. For next year it looks like we have: Spencer, Green, Wells, Lewis, Voss?, Jordan, Martin. No idea what's going on with Fitzgerald, Mapapalangi or Voss actually but high chance t...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 6

Who amongst the academy lot is likely to get a contract? Some likely ones based on reputation: - Freddie Steward - Joe Browning - Ronnie Du Rant - Sam Costelow - Jonny Law - James Whitcombe - George Martin - Sam Eveleigh Any others? Rowntree and Hardwick definitely have names that fit. I think most ...

Re: Tigers v Saints

It's worth saying there's a chance we'll be putting out a very different team with all the returnees. It's possible we'll see: 1 Genge 2 Youngs 3 Cole 4 Spencer 5 Kitchener 6 Williams 7 BOC 8 Thompson 9 Youngs 10 Ford 11 May 12 Eastmond 13 Manu 14 Holmes 15 Worth 16 Kerr 17 Gigena 18 Heyes 19 Wells ...

Who plays 8 vs Saints?

Assuming Kalamafoni gets a couple of weeks on the sidelines for his red, what do we do at 8? If Denton can be fit then great but that doesn't feel likely. Likewise BOC is touch-and-go for the Saints game. Finally Thompson has said he wants to play 7 rather than 8. The only other proper 8 in the squa...

Re: Tigers v Wasps

Agreed thought that the forwards came out of it with more credit than the backs. The one issue for the forwards was the ruck where we were getting messy ball, but Guy coming back in will help. I'm worried about dropping Kitch after a 100% lineout in the last game, but I think that Wells is much bett...

Re: Worcester vs Tigers

Some of the negativity is a bit odd - pointing out every flaw with our team and acting like Worcester are the Crusaders or something. Yes, they may not be too worried about our back row - but should we be worried about theirs? Two decent players and a promising youngster. I think a lot of people wil...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 5

If I could sign two realistic super rugby players I would go with lealiifano and Mataele (if he could be convinced about playing for Fiji rather than NZ I could see him leaving for a good amount of £) Taufua has a very good game for today. Also McCaffrey had a massive first half for the Bumrbies. T...
