Re: Sir Kev.

I have no doubt that Kevin will be knighted before too long as he has thoroughly deserved it. All the marathons and money raising for MND and his friend Rob can only be marvelled at. Most of all, his dramatic carrying him over the finishing line was particularly moving for anyone with a heart. I exp...

Re: Matt Scott - Overlooked | Leicester Tigers Tribute

Matt Scott is a joy to watch and long may he continue. We have had some world class backs over the years and the memory of them is embellished in the mind with the passing years but Scott is well up with the best. He didn't set the world on fire at first but he has blossomed at Tigers into the great...

Re: Tigers v Leinster (A) - Champion Cup - Qtr Final - 07th April 2023 - KO 8:00pm

So what? You are having a laugh mate. Leinster are an international team in every way. They should be obliged to compete with clubs the same as the rest of us. It is bending the system in the same way that Saracens did by being able to field two full teams of internationals only in your case you hav...

Re: Tigers v Leinster (A) - Champion Cup - Qtr Final - 07th April 2023 - KO 8:00pm

I don't accept that the Premiership is failing because two clubs folded. The standard of rugby this year has been better than for a long while. The difference has been that the French and Irish teams have massive amounts to spend on players and in some cases, play far fewer games to play. As for Eng...

Re: Tigers v Leinster (A) - Champion Cup - Qtr Final - 07th April 2023 - KO 8:00pm

I disagree with much of that. You even wrote about the "Irish clubs" but no doubt meant the Provinces. People have a right to feel aggrieved when so much is stacked up against us, even if it is legal, it is certainly against the spirit of the game. Just as much as our custom of not "e...

Re: Tigers v Leinster (A) - Champion Cup - Qtr Final - 07th April 2023 - KO 8:00pm

if our salary cap was increased to £10M where do we get the money from ? Saracens, along with Bath and Bristol, rely on the generosity of a sugar daddy. Their crowds wouldn't fund a kids party. Even our occasional crowds of 24k is not enough to increase our spending to that level. We used to have p...

Re: Tigers v Leinster (A) - Champion Cup - Qtr Final - 07th April 2023 - KO 8:00pm

Withdrawing the English clubs is not as daft as it sounds. The rest desperately need them as the games produce a shed load of money. There was a move some years ago to do just that. See how they fair without the money we bring to the party. Yes we can develop our mini, youth and academy players but ...

Re: Tigers v Leinster (A) - Champion Cup - Qtr Final - 07th April 2023 - KO 8:00pm

As Big Dai said, not an even playing field. If anyone really expected our club side with salary cap, injuries, etc and a tough league competition week after week to compete with a Provincial team, made up of most of the Irish national team, rested and kept just for this competition, they were dreami...

Re: Tigers v Leinster (A) - Champion Cup - Qtr Final - 07th April 2023 - KO 8:00pm

By all accounts, Leinster regularly field the entire Ireland international pack, which, if true, means our task is very uphill. I have long thought that the way Irish rugby is organised in Provinces, with two of them providing the national team, their participation in a game for mere clubs is grossl...

You didn't mention any academy players being promoted into the top flight. Surely Chesham junior will make his first team debut soon?
Ooops my mistake. He is there in your list!

I am also pleased at the signing of OHC but the jewel in that particular crown has to be Harry Arundel.
Now he would be a great signing.

Scott Robertson

So after all the hype and denials, the NZ rugby board have appointed Scott Robertson to be the new All Blacks coach. Considering how much he has supposedly upset the "blazers" down there with his direct and aggressive manner, it goes to show that if the best man is available, all that does...

Re: Tigers v Gloucester (A) - Sunday 12th March 2023 - KO 13:00

Not many complaining about WW now. Yes he is going at the end of the season but I can well remember all the ludicrous calls for him to be sacked, even at that early juncture. "Not the answer" was a common cry. I am sure there are some like me who wonder if McKeller's arrival is now a bad t...

Re: Dan McKellar to join Leicester Tigers as Head Coach

The coach that fits your description of charismatic for me is Rob Baxter. He has achieved much but has always been respectful to the opposition, straight talking to the press and media. Above all, he's a great, reserved personality who his teams and supporters would follow to the ends of the earth.

Re: Who should be the next Head Coach / DoR at Tigers?

Having announced Townsend is being replaced as the Scotland coach by a Kiwi it would seem he is therefore available for us. I may be putting two and two together but it's looking likely from where I'm standing. The poll at the top of this thread has him as the overwhelming first choice of the small ...
