Re: 2015/16 Squad/Contracts/Rumours and Transfers Thread Par

We would all have preferred him to have had more game time - I'm sure he feels the same - but player value runs much deeper. This valid point is lost on those that judge a team by 80 minutes once a week. JDV sustained injuries after he came (it happens!), and his 'players perspective' has contribut...

Kids started at £5 and Adults £10, how do I know this? I bought a big mini-bus full of 16yr olds from Norfolk, bargain i'd say!

BTW I thought the ground looked a lot fuller than the 21k stated!

Re: Will Evans

FYI Will Evans turned 19 yrs old shortly before his debut, a former Wymondham RFC and Wymondham College player from Norfolk (pronounced 'Windom' in Norfolk, and not 'Why-mond-ham you guys strangely use!).

Re: Tigers v Gloucester Rugby - Teams up

It'd be interesting to know if current players (at the high level) are in agreement about 'sensible!!' rucking, or whether it's just the 'don't like it up 'em' brigade of past glory years. Watching 3 games this weekend I saw attackers being deliberately pinning defenders into the back of the ruck to...

Re: Kicking for the corner

Sometimes when advantage is played a player forces the penalty by deliberately knocking it on to stop play. In this case i'd be surprised if a player deliberately threw the ball into touch as it contravenes law 10.2(c), although a ref could reverse the penalty it would have to be a harsh ref to do s...

Re: Kicking for the corner

10.2 Unfair play (c) Throwing into touch. A player must not intentionally knock, place, push or throw the ball with his arm or hand into touch, touch-in-goal, or over the dead ball line. Never surprises me when another pundit doesn't understand the basic laws, no matter how long or outstanding thei...

Re: Mike Brown.

Brown proceeds to come around the side to dislodge the ball Incorrect, Brown clearly enters the ruck through the gate and is careful in doing so (over ball carriers head!) and then is in contact with an Irish throughout his kicking actions therefore he is deemed to be in the ruck. Totally agree abo...

Re: Mike Brown.

For me it merited a red card and a significant ban. Nothing of the sort, a tackled player must release, pass the ball or roll away immediately otherwise it's a PK for holding on. Brown was entitled to hack away at the ball from his position, the flailing boot was borderline reckless but in the cont...

Re: Tigers v Sale - Oh no it's TMO Tim Wigglesworth with whi

Having just re-watched the first half again, RW's decision making was absolutely ridiculous. First penalty against Crane for not rolling away, the ball was in the scrum half's hands when he blew, same again for the next one when Fraser was pinged for being off his feet, this happened again and again...

What sad news, the anonymity of this forum means that as far as I know I never met Bill in person but I will miss his posts. His comments were often thought provoking, sometimes tongue in cheek and mischievous. I have no idea what he looked like but I can imagine the twinkle in his eye. Condolences...

Re: Ashton to face ban?

what concerns me is accidental contact with the eye (NOT gouging) area gets big bans, stuff that could finish a career like flying shoulder charges at rucks (knee, back, torso injuries resulting) get nothing not even a stoppage often. Long bans are not the result of accidental actions! They are deli...
