Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD
Rumours are that AWJ hasn't had an offer from the regions or WRU. Most Prem sides are up to the cap, French sides are avoiding signing players who will be at the RWC until December and Top League sides are highly selective about overseas stars. Tigers were recently rumoured to be after Donnacha Ryan...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 7
I'd be the last person (I'm a bisexual man who has had the privilege of talking in schools about the effects of bullying on the LGBT community) to argue that debates of this type don't need to be had. I'd also be last rugby lover to argue that it's not a discussion that needs having in rugby. On beh...

https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/rugby/rugby-news/five-international-rugby-stars-looking-2954021 Would we want any of these 5? For me only Retallick - not that we could afford him but Santa really does exist Thought Retallick had signed for a Japanese team Nothing has been released if he's signe...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 7
The Salary cap regs prevent 'front loading' a contract when a player is a marquee. The converse is also true, i.e. paying a player £50k in year one when they are under the cap then paying them £500k in year two and making them a marquee. I've quoted the examples given in the regs below. As usual wit...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 7
AWJ isn't the greatest individual rugby player that you'll ever see but he sure can lead a team. Whether he'd be a great signing though remains to be seen as the temptation to play more locks at blindside might continue for a side that has had more holes than a teabag in it's defence. Only senior l...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 7
Whilst AWJ could be a great signing (time will tell) is he a role we need if we now have the Argentinian lock, Spencer & Green. Whilst he might be the best out of all of them would he be better than a world class 8? Are there any world class 8s available? Billy V, Faletau, Isa, Picamoles, Read,...

Gareth Evans signed for Ospreys after leaving Gloucester. He's a good player so expect him to do well there.
I'd happily take Henry Purdy back at Tigers if he is leaving Gloucester as well.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 7
Have we 100% signed Coghlan? Because I can’t imagine us bringing in him as well as Wallace. Surely it would one or the other? Coghlan confirmed he'd signed with Tigers at the Nottingham end of season do. I've said it before but I really like signing squad depth from the Championship. They take up l...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 7
We need a powerful winger, hope we don’t give up the fight for one. I'm rather hoping that our recruitment team were down in London for the Sevens to put the finishing touches on a contract for one or two of the Fijian boys. Looking at the players coming out of their sevens programme the transition...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 7
I’ve just seen Ofisa Treviranus has been released from London Irish (this is old news), he’s 35 so we would probably only get a season out of him but I think he would be a good, experienced addition to our backrow and shouldn’t be pricy either. Good player but I wouldn't say blindside is where we n...

Re: New coaching structure?
I'd be very happy with Haig and Rowntree taking on field duties. Rowntree could oversee forward coaching for the first team with Brett taking on the academy and development. Then Stanko can remain scrum coach across the whole set-up. From what I've heard Boris is a terrific coach with the younger fo...

Re: Transfers & Rumours Non-Tigers 2018-19
Pick your best players in my opinion. Ashton and Thorley should be around the warm-up squads. Solomona is a terrific finisher but I'd take all of May, Daly, Nowell, Cokanasiga, Thorley and Ashton ahead of him. Thorley is a real weapon. I'd like to see him get a chance during the warm-ups. I'd also l...

Re: Transfers & Rumours Non-Tigers 2018-19
Ashton will be thereabouts for the RWC squad. Particularly with injuries to inevitably come. 11.May, Ashton 14.Nowell, Cokanasiga 15.Daly Those were the back three players used in the 6 Nations with Brown and Thorley in the training squads but not getting a game. Watson will be in the squad for the ...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 7
When Tigers played Quins the fans at the Stoop seemed to think Bristol were favourites to sign Wallace. Gloucester also meant to be in the hunt. 1.Genge, Bateman, Gigena, Hills 2.Youngs, Kerr, TPN, Clare, Stevens? 3.Cole, Heyes, Cortes, Leatigaga 4.Lavanini, Wells, Lewis 5.Spencer, Green 6.Taufua, D...

Re: Graham Kitchener
I hope Kitch rediscovers his best form at Worcester. At his best for Tigers he was terrific when playing alongside strong second row partners. As a jumper in a lineout with Parling and Croft involved he was lethal, stealing ball and taking fantastic one handed grabs. Once those players moved on and ...
