Re: Soccer sinks to new low

It's not just a new low, but also a new venue. Such incidents have happened in South Africa and Brazil but Holland normally has good standards of behaviour.

Re: Southern softies!

We rented a house in the Scottish Highlands one Christmas on a very remote tiny road. Heavy snow so I mothballed the car and walked the dogs. Immediately a snow plough - gritter came thundering at us and hey presto they cleared the entire 8 miles. By contrast on our journey up there through England ...

Re: England match - Toby injured, Robshaw brain-dead.

Anyone who's ever played any form of sport (rugby, cricket, golf etc) knows that you can perform like a metronome for months on end and then one day you can't hit a cow's a**e with a banjo.

That's all that happened to Flood. He didn't become a bad kicker overnight.

Re: Be careful of what you sing!

I totally agree.

But I think that banter between English and Welsh, or Americans and Canadians, or Aussies and Kiwis, if not OTT, can be tolerated by all sides.

But comments about people's colour and so on is utterly on a different level.

Re: Be careful of what you sing!

I thought that racism only applied between different races.

The examples given are of people of the same race but from different countries, and that's xenophobia.

Re: Gaza cease fire

It doesn't matter how many individuals on Gaza observe the ceasefire, it only needs one armed group to decide to fire rockets anyway and the restraint of the rest is spoiled.

Re: The Bloke Behind Me

TBBM was an old fellow who could be quite funny.

However, on one fateful day he responded to a whistle for violent play by yelling "I hit my missus harder than that."

Oh dear. The silence was deafening.

Re: Electing police and crime commissioners

I would like to know that kids won't riot in the park, I won't get beaten up on the way home, no women will be assaulted and so on.

Do I have to vote for this?

I love Jessica Ennis, but I think Mo Farah's gold medal left the nation gasping and he may edge it.

Re: The REAL comparison between football codes

Tell me about it! I was playing football in the Notts Sunday League when a player who had been sent off got into his white van, drove onto the pitch and tried to run over the ref.

Re: The Bloke Behind Me

I was treated to a bit of corporate hospitality in a box at Worcester and one of the other guests who arrived was an attractive young blonde lady. I prepared myself for an afternoon of daft comments and questions. Well how wrong can you get? She was an active rugby player who knew the game inside ou...

I agree, they probably don't need or want us either! But who cares? My wife used to be a full time entertainer and I was a part time entertainer. It's a great buzz to entertain people, and no one dragged us on stage. We enjoyed entertaining audiences. If young lasses want to waft their pom-poms in f...
